Islamabad: Unidentified gunmen on Thursday targeted a street-corner meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party in Multan and abducted the son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani in a hail of gunfire that killed his personal secretary and a

bodyguard and injured several others. The former PMs youngest son, Ali Haider Gilani, who is running for a provincial assembly seat from Multan, was meeting his supporters in Farrukh Town when the gunmen pulled up in a car and two motorbikes and sprayed bullets.

An analysis of votes by Lok Sabha seats shows that even if the votes gathered by the B S Yedyurappa-led KJP and the G Sriramulu-led BSRCP were added to the BJPs tally , the combined entity would only get another seven seats, taking the saffron partys tally to nine, a huge drop from the 19 it won in 2009.
