What did you think about the Household Canny Challenge work you have been doing?

The following are the results of a survey with East Linton Primary School P5-P6 class (30 pupils) who have recently completed the Household Canny Challenge Programme. The survey was anonymous so that the children would feel more comfortable about sharing their opinions. Each pupil was asked to give a score between 0 and 10 to indicate what they thought of the programme they have been involved with. A score of O = have not enjoyed the sessions and have found the sessions to be excellent.

What did you like about what you have been doing? Regarding Food mapping and measuring? I liked doing the mapping and weighing our food x16 It made us think about how far our food travels x20 It was fun x 8 I was shocked about how much food we waste in our house! It was an interesting way to learn how much food we make here and how much more food we could be growing here. Learned about the way food is transported now and how it makes C02 emissions and how we could stop this.

Transport mapping and planning? I enjoyed doing this x 7 I liked planning our area x6 Good way to learn about C02 x5 I got to ride my bike more! It was interesting It was really weird seeing where I live and where everything else is. I felt like a bird looking down on where I live. It was good seeing where the dangers are and safer ways to get to school.

Home energy mapping and planning? That was fun mapping where the draughts are in my house x9 It was fun planning how much energy we are using in our house x4 Learned how to use energy wisely and made us think about how to save energy x2

What did you not like about what you have been doing? Regarding Food mapping and measuring? The food waste stank! X 15 Food waste was disgusting and to see how much we waste x3 Awful mixtures We dont have any food waste so I didnt learn anything more.

Transport mapping and planning? It wasnt easy to think about where I live and map it x3 The c02 that comes from cars Already walk and cycle everywhere we can safely. I live too far out of the village.

Home energy mapping and planning? This was a bit boring x2 The other things were more interesting x2 Our house has a lot of cold places x2 My boiler wasnt working that week. Dog ate my map and plan. We already save energy as much as we can.
