WHATS ON?
decisions
I wonder how many decisions you make in just one day? In truth, if you really think about it, we are making so many, so often, it is hard to keep count.
Sometimes they are easy decisions like what to wear (dependent on the weather and the days events), what to eat or what to watch on the TV (or not watch). Other decisions are more serious and should take deeper thought and time, like what path in education we should take, what job we should apply for, who to marry, when to have children etc. These are not decisions we should ever make in a hurry as they can have a lasting impact on our entire life. Some people are natural procrastinators - spending hours weighing up the pros and cons but in truth not really wanting to make a decision at all. Others make snap decisions without fully looking at the consequences or effects on others. Whichever camp you fall in - or maybe you fall somewhere in between decisions eventually have to be made. Jesus talked about two roads - one large and wide and the other small and narrow (Matthew 7:13-14). Jesus said many are on the broad road but ultimately it leads to destruction but small is the gate and narrow the path that leads to life and not everyone finds it. Of course Jesus was referring to people following Him, finding out that real life comes not from doing our own thing, running off after every desire and ultimately discovering none of it had meaning. Being in a relationship with Jesus means involving Him in our decisions, allowing Jesus to guide us, direct us, bring wisdom into our circumstances and grow in our understanding of who He is and just how much He loves us. Decisions become easier when we dont have to make them alone. Jesus cares deeply about every area of your life, the small problems, the great joys, the things that make you smile and the deeper issues that cause you pain. The biggest decision you can ever make is to choose to follow Jesus. Jesus chose you, the question is when you stand at the crossroads of the broad and narrow road - will you choose the way that leads to Him? This is one decision you cant afford not to make.

community nominations
We want the people in our community to know that as a church we love them and want to help them where we can.
Maybe you know a family going through a particularly difficult time in your street? Maybe you know someone who is elderly who is struggling to complete a project? Maybe you know someone who could just do with a little cheering up. We want to bless our community and we want your help to do it.
COMPASSION SUNDAY
On Sunday 6 October we have Tim Robertson from Compassion UK with us to launch our very own Net Church project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Tim will be bringing profiles of children from this specific area that are urgently looking for sponsors. Please pray and come prepared to help.
Following Roy and Keelys visit to Ethiopia this year we really want to make a difference in the lives of families and children in Addis Ababa. Children living in squalor and filth, some are even living in rubbish dumps where disease is rife. Through sponsoring a child with Compassion you will enable children living in extreme poverty to become responsible, fulfilled adults who are educated and self sufficient. You could also consider sponsoring a child as part of a smaller group if you want to help but cant financially afford to sponsor 1 or 2 children alone. Compassion not only help children but their work has a direct effect on the families, helping with food, medical care and skills training. A trip to actually see the need and meet some of these families will be arranged in 2014. Together we can change the world one life at a time.

Growing
strong, mature Christians who are fully released in their God given ministries
All across our nation there are young men without hope and without proper role models.
Many end up in young offenders institutions. We run a Christian mentoring programme within R o c h e s t e r s Yo u n g Offenders unit which runs on 2 levels:Level 1 - we bring Christians into the prisons to mentor the lads on a Monday evening (fortnightly). Level 2 - we continue mentoring when they leave prison. Do you want to get involved? You can be male or female but you must have been a Christian for at least 3 years. Please email the church for more info for the attention of Roy Morley and please pray for this excellent ministry.
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped in any way to finish the coffee bar room - every little bit counted. We are really looking forward to using this room to connect more with our community especially with the parents from playschool. We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to serve in the coffee bar - you will need to be friendly and able to engage with people from all walks of life. If you are interested please see Jaya or Pete. The coffee bar will officially be opening Monday 9th September at 9:00am and it would be great if as many as possible came to support this launch. Jesus calls us to go into all the world - it starts with our own town. There are exciting times ahead.
In the Autumn we are looking at setting up a Food Bank for our town. Food banks are increasing all around our country as more and more people struggle to even buy the basics. Once this is up and running we will be appealling for people to buying a few extra items whenever you can. Donation items needed:
Tinned food (anything and everything) Cereals Pasta and Rice Noodles Sauces Cuppa soups Tea bags Coffee Sugar Long life milk. Toilet Rolls Shower gel Shampoo Bars of soap Deodorant Razors (for both men & women) Baby items Nappies Baby wipes Formula etc.
