HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Nitrogen generator produces Nitrogen gas from atmospheric air using Molecular Sieves Separation technique. It uses Carbon Molecular Sieves which has ability to preferentially remove oxygen from air. The process and supply of Molecular Sieves is licensed to us by CarboTech AC GmbH of Germany. Nitrogen Generator consists of 2-Beds filled with Carbon Molecular Sieves. When compressed air is passed, Nitrogen comes out as product gas from one bed while other bed is simultaneously regenerated by depressurisation to atmospheric pressure. This process is called PRESSURE SWING ADSORPTION (PSA).

NITROGEN PURITY
From Nitrogen generator, gas of purity from 99% to 99.9999% can be produced. A simple PSA unit produces Nitrogen of 99% purity and by adding Purification unit, high purity Nitrogen is produced. Following are various Models to produce different Nitrogen purities.

NITROGEN GENERATOR MODELS

MS MODEL
This is the simplest model Nitrogen Generator. It produces commercial grade Nitrogen of 99% purity very economically. When Carbon Molecular Sieves quantity is increased, even 99.999% purity Nitrogen is produced from this model. Higher the purity, higher would be the investment and higher would be the running cost. This model is economical and is recommended for purity up to 99.99%. This model is commonly used for purging/ Inertizing requirements.

DX MODEL
This model is recommended for use in Metallurgical industries to produce oxygen free Nitrogen gas for Heat Treatment Furnaces. Here Oxygen is less than 1-ppm and at the same time Hydrogen is around 0.5 to 1% which is desirable as reducing constituent in most Heat Treatment applications. By adding Palladium catalyst Deoxo Purification Unit in Model-MS Generator, it becomes DX-Model. This model also finds applications in Chemical / Electronic industries.

COPPER-DX MODEL
In certain applications where one needs very very pure gas free from Oxygen and Hydrogen, Nitrogen Purification Module based on Copper Deoxo Catalyst is added. By adding this Copper Catalyst Module to MS-Model Generator it becomes Model Copper-DX. This finds application in synthetic fiber, optical cables and Electronic industries. Cost of production of Nitrogen from this model is higher. Nitrogen purity is 99.9999%.

ADVANTAGES
Start-up time is only 5 minutes. Nitrogen Gas supply always under your control. Skid mounted units for easy site installation. Cost of Nitrogen only Rs. 2/- to Rs. 3/- (US 4 to 6 cents) per cubic meter only. Very high reliability to run unit unattended. Carbon Molecular Sieves life is around 15-years and in most cases it lasts whole life time of Gas Generator.

ECONOMICS & PAY BACK PERIOD There is substantial cost saving by using Nitrogen gas from a captive Gas generator. Pay back period is as little as 1 to 2 years only.

NITROGEN CAPACITY
Nitrogen Generators are tailor-made equipment and are manufactured as per customers requirements. However, standard units are available in the capacity of 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 300, 500 NM3/hr etc. These Gas Generators are manufactured in sizes up to 5000 NM3/hr capacities.

HYDROGEN REQUIREMENT
In high purity Nitrogen Generator, a Deoxo Unit is provided in which Oxygen is removed by reacting with Hydrogen. This Hydrogen can be supplied either from Hydrogen Cylinders or one can go for a captive Hydrogen Generator based on Ammonia Cracking process. In smaller capacity Nitrogen Generators since Hydrogen requirement is very little, Hydrogen Cylinders are economical. But, in bigger capacity Nitrogen Generators, Ammonia Cracking Unit works out to be more economical. Cost of Hydrogen generation by Ammonia Cracking process is around Rs. 14/- per cubic meter whereas cylinder Hydrogen gas costs Rs. 40/- per cubic meter.

NITROGEN PRESSURE
Standard Nitrogen Generator produces Nitrogen at 5.5 kg/cm2g pressure. This pressure comes automatically as feed air pressure to the PSA unit is 7 kg/cm2g. However, by inceasing feed air pressure to 13 kg/cm2g, Nitrogen can be produced at 12 kg/cm2g pressure also. If Nitrogen is needed at higher pressure, we provide a Nitrogen booster compressor after the Gas Generator.

NITROGEN STORAGE TANK

To meet fluctuating Nitrogen demands, it is advised to keep an Intermediate Nitrogen storage tank immediately after the Gas generator. This tank always receives Nitrogen from the Gas generator and supplies to your process as per demand. Normally Nitrogen Storage System of 1-hour capacity is considered to be adequate. In case one needs higher storage capacity then we provide a Nitrogen Booster Compressor and store the gas at high pressure to keep Storage Tank size smaller. Nitrogen Storage Tanks are fabricated from Boiler Quality Steel under 3rd party inspection and certified by CCoE-Nagpur. A high Pressure Switch in Tank automatically stops the gas generator when pressure reaches the set value. When pressure in the tank falls, Gas generator restarts Nitrogen production automatically.

CYLINDERS v/s GENERATOR

NITROGEN CYLINDERS
Cylinder Nitrogen costs Rs. 15/- per cubic meter. Transfer and handling of Gas cylinders is very cumbersome due to high pressure risks. Dependency on availability of Nitrogen Cylinders all the time. Nitrogen purity in cylinders is not reliable and changes from cylinder to cylinder.

Nitrogen Generator gas costs approx.. Rs. 2/- per cubic meter. In-house Nitrogen generation as and when needed and in any quantity. Continuous and reliable Nitrogen supply round the clock. Your production never suffers due to want of Nitrogen gas. Nitrogen purity is very steady and reliable.

What is the purity of Nitrogen gas? : Several models are available to produce Nitrogen gas from 95% to 99.9999% purity. Oxygen level can be obtained as low as 1-ppm and Dew Point up to (-) 80C. Can we get Nitrogen generator of : Yes, Nitrogen Generators are tailor size exactly as per our Nitrogen made exactly as per customers demand? specifications of Nitrogen Purity as well as Nitrogen capacity. However, standard models and sizes are available as mentioned on Page-3. What happens if Gas generator : An On-line Oxygen Analyzer does not produce required purity? continuously monitors Nitrogen purity and shuts down the gas generator automatically with alarm if purity drops below set limit. What happens if power fails? : Gas Generator stops automatically and safely. Nitrogen gas stored in the tank can still be utilized to feed your system/process till power is restored.

How much time does it take to : It is a single push button start unit and start the gas generator? takes only 5-minutes to produce Nitrogen. Does it make any noise? : The noise level is less than 85dbA at 1meter distance. A very effective silencer is provided in exhaust line.

What happens to the Gas : Gas generator is designed to run generator if the Gas consumption continuously all 24-hours. But, if gas is is lower than Gas generator not being consumed or consumption is capacity? low, pressure gradually builds up in Nitrogen Storage Tank. An automatic pressure switch safely stops the Gas generator. When pressure in the Nitrogen tank falls due to continuous gas consumption, the pressure switch automatically restarts the Gas generator.

 Does this Gas generator require : No continuous supervision is needed. an operator? Once started, it can be left unattended. Several instruments monitor and control the operation of Gas generator automatically. What is life of Molecular Sieves? : Life of Molecular Sieves is around 15years and in majority of the cases it lasts whole life time of the Gas generator. However, Molecular Sieves life is reduced by oil in air. Therefore, it is essential to provide special pre-filters if lubricated air is used. : The Maintenance Schedule is given in Operation Manual. The maintenance is limited to only replacement of filter elements and Piston Rings, Seals, etc. in Air Compressor. : Yes. The Gas generator is supplied fully assembled on channel frames which are kept on leveled floor. You have to simply connect power and utilities and the Gas generator becomes ready for start-up. We provide services of Engineer to supervise its installation and commissioning at site. are : You are never without assistance as we are always only a phone call away. On receiving your call, our specialised Service Engineer will promptly call on you. We have our own Service Centres with adequate Spares inventory, at several locations. : The only cost in this Gas generator is of electricity for running Air Compressor. Running cost is Rs. 2/- per cubic meter of Nitrogen produced. This is very low as compared to cylinder Nitrogen cost which is around Rs. 15/- per cubic meter. Hence, there are substantial cost savings when you install such Gas generator. Pay back period is only 1 to 2-years.
