METHOD STATEMENT FOR FLOOR FINISH WITH IRONITE 01.02.2019
MATERIAL AT 132 KV GIS.
This procedure covers material, supervision and methods for floor finish with
Metallic floor hardener.
2. Purpose:
The purpose of this procedure is to provide guidelines for floor finish with
Metallic floor hardener.
3. General Requirements:
Casting of floor finish with Ironite shall be done as per technical specification
and IS 2571-1970 (Laying of in-situ cement concrete flooring).
4. Materials:
Portland Cement as per IS 269:2015.
River Sand, course aggregate 10/12.5mm as per IS 383.
Ironite –Surface Hardener or equivalent from Ironite Co. of India ltd.
6 mm down course stone aggregates.
Construction water.

Basic laying procedure of floor finish with Metallic floor hardener shall be
done in two parts:
The cement concrete shall consist of one part Portland cement, 1.5 part
fine aggregates and 3 parts of course aggregate, proportioned by
volume, with the addition of required water per bag of cement.
The course aggregate shall be well graded of 12.5mm down size and
well graded river sand shall be use as a fine aggregate. The fine and
course aggregates shall be free from deleterious loam, vegetable
matters or any ingredients that may affect their bonding properties.
The concrete shall be laid gently in the panels and tamped with wooden
mallets till a cream of mortar covers the surface. Wooden strips or flat
pieces shall be removed before laying the alternate panels.
After screeding the topping to the established grades, the surface shall
be compacted by tamping, then floated with a wooden float or power
floating machine.
After the topping has been partially set, the surface shall be steel
trowelled to a smooth and even finish, free from tool marks. A final
steel trowelling shall be given until the surfaces have set to a hard and
uniform finish.
