1. Scope:

This procedure covers material, supervision and methods of application of


PPG Lining.

2. Purpose:

Polypropylene Glass (PPG) lining is a sheet which is used as a cladding


over concrete / metal surfaces to protect the sub surfaces from corrosion
caused by chemicals (acid & alkalis).

3. General Requirements:

Application of the above shall be done as per:

 Technical specification Volume –V.


 Relevant manufacturer’s guidelines (GE Minerals Pvt ltd).

4. Equipment & Tools:

 Wire brush.
 Bucket for mixing.
 Hand Trowel.
 Hand brush.
 PPEs: Gloves, Helmet, Safety warning device, Safety shoes etc.

5. Materials:

 GESTONE COMP A- Resin.


 GESTONE COMP B- Hardener. 1.5mm thick.
 GESTONE COMP C- Powder Mix.
 GEFLOR PPGL- sheet (2.0mm thick).

6. Procedure:

6.1. Surface preparation:

6.1.1. The surfaces to be Lined with PPG shall be levelled, smooth, dry &
clean. The entire surface shall be tapped by wooden hammer to
determine hollows if any. In case hollows are found, they shall be
suitably sealed with cement mortar.
6.1.2. The unsatisfactory surfaces shall be replaced by new concrete or other
suitable material after ensuring proper bond between the new and old
surface.

6.2. Mixing Ratio:


For primer:

6.3. Application:

6.3.1. Over the clean dry even surface, one coat of adhesive primer
(GESTONE COMP A + GESTONE Comp B) shall be brush applied.
6.3.2. Thereafter, a chemical resistant adhesive base layer GESTONE mix
COMP A, B, C compound (resin: hardener: powder mix) will be
trowelled.
6.3.3. Thereafter, adhesive GESTONE mix COMP A & B shall be soaked into
the back of the GEFLOR PPGL sheet and will be pressed onto the
concrete surface by providing proper supports.
6.3.4. Joints between the PPG Sheets shall be welded with GEFLOR Welding
strips and GEFLOR Welding Rods.

6.3.5. The overall thickness shall be 3.0mm to 3.5mm (1.5mm Mortar + 2mm
PPG Sheet).

Note:

 For floors dead weight for 8hrs minimum shall be provided


 For walls telescopic supports are to be provided from opposite face for
8hrs minimum.
 After the lining, do not allow movement for 48 hours. Allow contact with
water or any liquid after 7 days. In special cases, allow use after 72
hours.

7. Quality Assurance & Quality control:

7.1. Manufacturer data sheet guidelines.


7.2. Technical specification.
7.3. Ensure proper mixing.
7.4. Proper Joints shall be ensured between the PPG Sheets.
7.5. Checklist for quality assurance.
7.6. All Material MTC

8. Safety concerns:

8.1. PPE’s shall be used properly by all workman


8.2. All rotational units should be covered.
8.3. Eye wash showering arrangement shall be done for precautionary
arrangements.
8.4. Safety goggles & PVC gloves to be wear by workman during acid
curing application.
