September 21, 2013 Mechanics For ICS Department 1) The coverage of the Engineering Cup 2013 includes basic and advanced (general) Information and Computer Studies courses. 2) There shall be six (6) teams, two (2) teams representing each department: Computer Science, Information Technology and Information Systems. Each team shall have its respective coach, which is a faculty member from the teams respective department. 3) Each team shall be composed of four (4) participants. There shall be one (1) representative from each year level (from first to fourth year) as contestants. 4) All teams shall write their answers on the whiteboards to be provided. Answers shall be written legibly and shall be readable for them to be validated. 5) Only complete answers shall merit full credit. Therefore, units shall be indicated if needed. Incomplete answers shall be considered wrong answers. 6) For numerical answers, proper rules on significant figures and rounding off must be observed. In this case, answers shall be in four (4) decimal places. 7) The competition shall be divided into three (3) rounds: The Easy Round, The Average Round, and The Difficult Round. 8) The contestants shall be given ten (10) questions for each round. 9) Every question in The Easy Round is worth three (3) points, five (5) points for each question in The Average Round and seven (7) points for each question in The Difficult Round. 10) There shall be a time limit to answer questions per round. Ten (10) seconds shall be given for The Easy Round, fifteen (15) seconds for The Average Round, and twenty (20) seconds for The Difficult Round. 11) Questions for The Easy Round are with multiple choices, for The Average Round and The Difficult Round, questions are objective or free-response. 12) The questions shall be read by the Quizmaster twice. 13) After the second (2nd) reading, the Quizmaster shall say go, only then are the teams allowed to write their answers. Automatically, the time limit shall begin on the Quizmasters go signal. 14) When the time limit is done, the time keeper shall press the buzzer. The teams must stop writing and raise their whiteboards to show their answers. 15) The Quizmaster shall verify every teams answer. 16) After the tenth (10th) question in The Difficult Round, the total number of points per team shall be tabulated. 17) The teams who get the highest number of points are automatically declared as Second (2nd) Runner-Up, First (1st) Runner-Up and Champion. 18) In case a tie is declared among the teams getting the three (3) highest scores, the contest moves on to The Clincher Round to determine the Runners-Up and the Champion. 19) In The Clincher Round, as many questions shall be given. Questions of any difficulty and type shall be asked until one (1) contestant gains an advantage in score over the other. 20) The first contestant to gain an advantage in score shall be declared the victor of the tie and shall merit the corresponding award. 21) The duly registered coach of the team is the only person authorized to make a protest. 22) All protests shall be referred to the Board of Judges immediately, before the Quizmaster reads the next question. Late protests shall not be entertained. 23) The Board of Judges shall be in complete control of the contest. Their direction shall be final for all questions/protests. 24) Once winners are declared, it is irrevocable.

Each team shall have its respective coach, which is a faculty member from the teams respective department. 3) Each team shall be composed of five (5) participants. There shall be one (1) representative from each year level (form first to fifth year) as contestants. 4) All teams shall write their answers on the whiteboards to be provided. Answers shall be written legibly and shall be readable for them to be validated. 5) Only complete answers shall merit full credit. Therefore, units shall be indicated if needed. Incomplete answers shall be considered wrong answers. 6) For numerical answers, proper rules on significant figures and rounding off must be observed.
