Nevada City Film Festival August 20th- 23rd
The 9th Annual Nevada City Film Festival, NCFF, promises
to be another exciting showcase of independent films. Every
year thousands of film enthusiasts from around the world
gather for a long, 4-day weekend of movie viewing. This
year’s NCFF will feature 30 short films that will showcase the
creative, boundary-pushing work of both film making’s rais-
ing talent and veteran inde-
pendent directors. Past

TV Chef to visit Grass Valley
Community Asian Theater of the Sierras (CATS) will host a
cooking demonstration and book signing by Chinese celebrity
chef Martin Yan of the popular TV series Yan Can Cook! The
event will take place at the Center for the Arts, 314 West
Main Street in Grass Valley on Saturday, August 29 at
2:00pm. Chef Yan, who started cooking at the age of 12, will
share secrets to great Chinese cooking as well as talk about
his recent trips to China. He has been the host of the TV
show Yan Can Cook since 1978 and has appeared several
times as a guest judge on The Food Network’s Iron Chef
America. Chef Yan also received the title of “Master Chef ”
from the American Culinary Federation.
You will have an opportunity to purchase cook books and
have them personally autographed. Tickets are $20.00
advanced and $25.00 at the door and can be purchased at
