Dear Friends,
GREETJNGS

Greetings to you at this special time of year as we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ We hope you are
having an enjoyable holiday season.
WE ARE lEAVim

Ours is rather emotion-packed since we are leaving for Africa, January 3,1991. Yes, you heard rightl Looks like we really are leaving this timel The Lord has provided sufficient funds for us to leave with just a little over the minimal budget that African Christian Mission has set for us. We're excited to be leaving but also sad, of course, and a little anxious as to what the future may hold. What an incredible assurance to know that the Lord is the one who holds our hands! (Psalm 37: 23>24)
PLEASE PRAY FOR US

We would like to once again ask for your prayers for our life and ministry in Zaire. Maybe you wonder as we sometimes do, "do my prayers really make any difference?" The words of the song "Prayer Warrior" by Heirloom
say it well...

"Prayer warrior, down on her knees, wrestling with powers and principalities, standing in the gap for others,
for her sisters and her brothers, reaching heaven with her prayers.

And we'll never fully know the debt we owe her, for we'll never know the evil we've been spared, the many nights she's crashed through Satan's strongholds, reoching heaven with her proyers. You have touched the very heart of God, Prayer Warrior"

You can always pray for: Our health; cultural adaptation; language learning of Kibali, the tribal language; and our witness to the Babali people. We will keep you updated with more speciHcs in later letters.
FINANCIAL UPDATE

We would also appreciate your prayers right now for additional monthly support commitments and one-time

gifts. As mentioned before, we have the minimal budget ACM has established for us, but it doesn't allow much cushion for emergencies, such as flying a native with a serious injury out of the jungle or letting him die. You can see the situations we face are not trivial. It would be rather difficult to tell them we are unable to help because of our budget There are always other unforeseen expenses, such as one of us needing medical attention, needing
extra supplies during a bad crop season, etc. Several churches are now considering adding us to their 1991 budgets, so pray for the Lord's will to be done in

each case, whether that is supporting us or another mission work. We also need another $8-10,000 in one-time funds since we found out in August that we must build a permanent building at our allocation in Bomili village rather than a temporary one. The permanent building is much nicer and should be there for many years to come versus a temporary one which would last only a few years. If you feel led of the Lord to help meet our one-time needs or would like to support us on a monthly basis, then just let us know and we will send you the information
you need.

PRAISE THE LORD

We hope you can share the satisfaction in our leaving at this time since it never would have taken place without the help of many people. You are our partners in giving the Bible to people who don't yet have it in their

own language and we prayfor the Lord's greatest blessings on you For your concern that His Gospel be taken into all
the world.

with Love in Christ,
