Prayer for the Week

A Winter Prayer
Let us huddle together this morning, our community a place of warmth in our lives as we share the flame of hope and connection. Let us allow the frost of isolation and bitterness melt away as we open ourselves to a sense of peace and spirit. We extend our thoughts to all those who are cold this morning, lacking shelter or love to keep them warm. Let us wrap our prayers around them and each other like scarves, and wish each other safe journeys through the storm. May we be insulated from fear as the earth is insulated by the snow, and, like bulbs, may we continue to grow and open inside, despite the cold, ready for the spring, to stretch towards justice. Amen!

Headteachers Comments
This Week
Good luck to all students who are involved in a range of activities next week eg, History trips, Rock Night, Y9 Technology Day, EMS Talent Show, Maths Challenge and Catholic Partnership cross country.

Parents Evening
A reminder to Y11 students that they are invited to attend the Parents Evening on Thursday. I would hope to see a good turn-out for the final Parents Evening of your compulsory schooling.

The Gambia
Well done to students who were involved in the organisation of the Race Night and good luck as you continue your preparations for the exciting trip ahead.

Aerosols
I would like to remind students that aerosols are not permitted on the school site since these have the potential to be very harmful to other people.

Lunchtime chess sessions in Periods 5 and 6 continue every weekday as usual, with library staff providing sets on request. However, in order for students to have the opportunity for complete beginners to learn chess, or for more experienced players to improve their skills, the chess club will now run after school on WEDNESDAYS, 3.10-4.15pm in Science Lab 5. Posters will be circulated about the school to highlight this change next week. Students will also be invited to compete in a school chess tournament over the next few months. Details and an entry form will follow, but it will take the form of a weekly game against a selected opponent which can be played at lunchtimes or after school. A new opponent will be assigned the next week based on your result etc.... The final winners (houses and year prizes available) will be given towards the end of the school year. Full details will be circulated next week. Mr Edwards (Science Lab 5)
