Project Title : Modeling Design Development & testing Of Twin Lobe Peristaltic Pump with auto level controller

system
Objectives of Project : 1. Design of Development of Twin Lobe PeristalticPump 2. Testing of Pump to derive performance characteristics 3. Design , development and testing of auto-level controller s stem for viscous fluids.

A pump is a device used to move fluids, such as liquids, gases or slurries. Pumps fall into five major groups: direct lift, displacement, velocity, buoyancy and gravity pumps.[1] Their names describe the method for moving a fluid. CLASSIFICATION OF PU PS !"! .arious devices haves been proposed in the past for pumping viscous fluids and slurries. /uch slurries are frequentl" ver" corrosive and abrasive to machiner" and pumping operations involving them have presented serious problems in man" instances because of the nature of the suspended solids the" contain. The slurr" commonl" comprises a gelled liquid media in )hich solid particles are suspended. These viscous materials have corrosive and abrasive action on the pump parts, hence it is necessar" to separate pump moving parts from the slurr" to avoid bloc0age and corroision and )ear of the parts. SOLUTION Peristaltic pump A peristaltic pump is a t"pe of positive displacement pump used for pumping a variet" of fluids. The fluid is contained )ithin a fle+ible tube fitted inside a circular pump casing 1though linear peristaltic pumps have been made2. A rotor )ith a number of 3rollers3, 3shoes3 or 3)ipers3 attached to the e+ternal circumference compresses the fle+ible tube. As the rotor turns, the part of the tube under compression closes 1or 3occludes32 thus forcing the fluid to be pumped to move through the tube. Additionall", as the tube opens to its natural state after the passing of the cam 13restitution32 fluid flo) is induced to the pump. This process is

called peristalsis and is used in man" biological s"stems such as the

gastrointestinal tract.
