PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION: I communicate ith pro!essional peers locall" #urin$ the !ollo in$:

Within my school I communicate with peers during all planning periods, faculty meetings, and department meetings. I often come in on my days off and meet with our Technology Integration Specialists and IT Director. I use email and Sharepoint as tools for communication with my colleagues at Assumption. I have presented and have attended many professional development programs at Assumption High School. Communicating with peers locally gives me an opportunity to share ideas and thoughts on lesson design, curriculum and technology usage. I often share with my colleagues technology I am using in my class and rainstorm ideas for using it in their classes as well. I recently used a we site called !opplet to have students design flowcharts on !olygons. Another teacher in my school found it interesting and is going to have her students use the same we site to colla orate on a pro"ect in Theology. I communicate with individuals in the #ouisville area through email, and have attended many professional development programs in #ouisville as well. I have stayed connected to other professionals from the professional developments through an $dmodo page. Another professional development I attended was %yste and they had an app for my I!hone where I could access information, handouts, and contact the presenter. This app was e&tremely useful during the conference, as well as after.

The a ove screenshot is of a we share page from a committee I am a mem er of. We are currently selecting a new device for our incoming freshmen. This page is used to discuss the pros and cons of several of the devices we evaluated. $ach committee mem er would chec' out the devices for a trial using we share. Then after using it for a day or two, we would enter our thoughts on the pros or cons of the device. I share# the !ollo in$ e%aluation&port!olio tools stu#ent learnin$: ith peers to help enhance

I do not use portfolios in the courses I teach. I use many types of evaluation and assessment to "udge student understanding and progress. The evaluation tools I have shared with peers include Dy'now and (ethod Test !rep. I find using the Dy'now su mit panels is a good formative assessment. This is where I have the students wor' a pro lem and then I can pro"ect their panels and we as a class can do error analysis. It gives me an opportunity to )uic'ly assess if there is a need for remediation. I have showed other teachers in my department how to use this formative assessment tool. Another tool I use and have shared is (ethod Test !rep. I have presented a professional development on (ethod Test prep to the faculty at Assumption High School. This we site allows students to prepare for the ACT and SAT through a guided plan for lessons, mini*)ui++es, and full tests. This we site is one that Assumption utili+es for use y the students and can also e used y the teachers in the form of assigning lessons and viewing results for students. I can see student results and then guide my instruction to include topics that need to e

revisited. When I shared this assessment tool with my peers, I e&plained how to create )ui++es and sort the data created y the student results.

I have shared several multi*media tools with my peers. During a professional development, I presented several )uic' ideas for using multimedia tools for the flipped classroom. I even used 0oicethread for teachers to share what they learned after watching a video I created e&plaining the tools. The teachers accessed my 0oicethread and from there clic'ed on the lin's to view more information a out the tools. The other multi*media tools used were 1og the We and $dcanvas. 1og the we is a great we site for lin'ing many different we sites to one guided lesson. Teachers can use it for student research and have a )uestion related to each we site visited. I showed teachers how I have shared and used 0oicethread for colla oration on student pro"ects. I also created a video to e&plain $dcanvas and how you can use this multi*media tool to present students with videos, we sites, and documents.

I use Dy'now every day to manage my students3 computer usage and information access. I have assisted many teachers in properly utili+ing the school management tool. I have showed them how I can view the students3 screens and monitor them for on*tas' ehavior. I have shared how we can also use Dy'now to share files with students even ma'ing the files immediately open when the student receives it. The program also allows for filtering student access to programs and we sites, which is important to 'eep students from 4wandering5 on their computer when e&pected to e engaged in the lesson. Dy'now also can e used for the students to su mit files and will place them in a file la eled for the course and the document will include the student name as well.

The picture a ove shows Dy'now in monitor mode. The small images are the screens of each of the studnets. There are options at the top to view individual screens, loc' applications and we sites, and comminiucating with students.

I have a 6oogle7 page and have posted videos and reviews of educational tools there. Any 6oogle7 user can add me to their circle and access my posts. I have a !interest page with posts that include math education ideas. I have Twitter and often tweet or retweet education ideas. I have recently started emailing with Heidi 8a'i, a teacher in (orocco. She has een great a out sharing technology tools she uses and was interested in hearing a out ones I use as well. I have shared videos on (ethod Test !rep on 9ouTu e. I have several that provide instructions for teachers who are "ust eginning to use the we site for student practice of ACT and SAT s'ills. I also shared with Heidi 8a'i how I use :neDrive for an evaluation tool. I thought it mirrored her use of #ive inders in the a ility to share and colla orate using the cloud. :neDrive allows me to see my students wor' and even add comments and scores using the in'ing tool from my Ta let !C. It ma'es it easier for students to 'eep trac' of their assignments and also aids the confidentiality of feed ac' and grades.

I have a 9outu e video that I posted to my 6oogle7 page on tech tools and we site that are great for the classroom. I sent Heidi 8a'i from (orocco a lin' to my video on tech tools, so that she could get some new ideas to use in her classroom. I also shared the idea of using 6oogle7 as a multi*media tool for posting videos, lin's, and information for students. 9ou could also use 6oogle7 for sharing ideas with other teachers. 6oogle7 allows you to create a community and then each person can share technology ideas for classroom usage. There is so much opportunity when you utili+e this tool and it can uild as others create their 6oogle7 pages and the communities egin sharing with each other.

In my email to (oroccan teacher Heidi 8a'i, I shared with her our classroom management tool, Dy%now. I told how it is used to monitor student3s screens during class instruction. I also thought she would e interested in the a ility of the program to pro"ect student screens over the Smart oard or pro"ector. (y students li'e this opportunity to share their own wor'. The a ility of Dy%now to control student access to programs and the we ma'es it a valua le management tool for the classroom. I shared a video that I had found on all the things a out Dy%now that you wished you had 'nown when you started on my 6oogle7 page. I discovered Heidi 8a'i, a teacher in Casa lanca, (orocco from a logging we site called 6lo alTeachersConnect.com. She has a great we site where she shares ideas and thoughts. She had some great information on Cloud storage and how to utili+e it for myself and my students. With students and teachers creating new files daily, ac'ing up and storage are imperative. She teaches younger students and shared with me some of the we sites she uses for them to get practice and to create lessons that appeal to them. She uses !re+i , !owtoons, $&plain $verything, and !uppet!als. Heidi also uses $dmodo as a classroom management tool for students to access information and post assignments. She uses #ive inders as a portfolio tool to store student wor'

COMMUNICATION *IT+ PARENTS: I communicate ith parents a(out technolo$" that I use in class (":

It is so important to 'eep communication with parents ongoing. I do this y using my class we site daily. :ur school uses School 2usion for all class we pages. :n ahsroc'ets.org, I post the day3s agenda, homewor' and any documents used that day. I try to post all notes completed for any a sent students. I usually convert my completed Smart notes into a !D2 and post that for parents to view. I lin' any useful we sites or we sites for math practice as well on my class we site. !arents and students can access it. I also use 8emind ,;, for important reminders. 8emind ,;, uses te&ts to communicate directly to parents and students. It is limited in num er of characters, ut still very valua le as a communication tool. 6rades at Assumption are posted using !owerSchool. !arents have their own account and can view grades and comments from

teachers. I ma'e it a priority to 'eep my grades as up to date as possi le. It is important for parents and students to have a clear picture if student3s progress.

PD&IN'SER,ICE The !ollo in$ #etails m" PD plan: Assumption provides faculty with monthly professional development opportunities. I am leading a !D program on :neDrive . <e&t year, all our files will e stored in the cloud using :ffice .=> and all files will default to this site for storage. It is important to share with the faculty how to access these files. $ach of the teachers has een given a log*in username and password to access the site. I will only have an hour to show them some of the sites capa ilities and tools. I will show teachers how to share files and colla orate. Teachers can also create (icrosoft :ffice documents within :ffice .=>, and that will e demonstrated as well. $ach teacher will e guided through uploading files to :neDrive, sharing :ne<ote folders, and lin'ing files into documents. I incorporate# the !ollo in$ concepts in m" PD: Whenever leading a !D that involves technology, I always start with an overview of how the technology is valua le, ut within that I li'e to mention the responsi ility that comes with incorporating this technology into their classroom. When doing the !D on :neDrive, I e&plained the security of this cloud storage system and the appropriateness of sharing files. Teachers want to 'now that their information can only e accessed

y those with permission. We at Assumption have assessments and ru rics that we will store in our :neDrive and we cannot ris' them eing availa le for students. * . Assumption has a proofreader and a mar'eting department that approves and previews any materials that are for pu lic use or distri ution. Copyright laws are discussed at length and all are aware of the fair use of materials for educational purposes. The idea ehind :neDrive is a cloud storage system that wor's for teachers and students. We need all individuals who will e using this technology to understand how to access copyright laws that may e relevant to them if there is ever any )uestion as to the legality of the use of the images, music, video and other digital resources. I had our mar'eting department availa le after the !D on :ne<ote to discuss any issues with Copyright laws any teacher had. $very !D that I have led for our faculty, I have had to e aware of the issues they may have concerning adult learning theory. With this !D session, the faculty in our school is a le to choose what !D session they are interested in attending. This aligns with the general understanding of adult learning theory that adults want to learn relevant content and need to e involved with the planning of their instruction. The activities in the !D will include hands on e&periences that allow participants to wor' through pro lems that may occur. Another valua le point of adult learning theory is that adults need to use the materials and wor' through issues themselves to maintain their new 'nowledge o tained during the !D session.
