FADE IN:
EXT. HOUSE - EVENING
EDEN, a tall, quiet and shy girl of 19, is getting out of
her car. She has a suitcase in the trunk, a purse is on her
shoulder. After she unloads her stuff, she makes her way up
to her parents house, walking up the path to the front door,
ringing the doorbell. She only has to wait a few moments
before she mother, CAROLYNN, a tall woman in her mid-fifties
with greying hair, opens the door, her husband, DENNIS,
taller than his wife and in his late fifties, stands beside
her.
CAROLYNN
(Embracing Eden)
Eden! Its good to see you, your
father and I are so glad to see
you!
EDEN
Hey mom! Its good to see you! Ive
missed you so much!
DENNIS
(Jokingly)
What about me? Did you not miss me?
EDEN
(Embracing her father)
Of course I did dad!
DENNIS
Good! Now, we have dinner ready,
all your favorites!
EDEN
Oh! Im starved, Ive missed your
homemade food!
CAROLYNN
Well, why dont you come in then?
Just leave your things in your
room, you can put them away after
dinner.

INT. EDENS ROOM - EVENING
Eden is in her room, her suitcase on her bed. She starts
unpacking her clothes and as she unpacks, a photo of her
with another girl sits on top of her clothes. She picks up
the photo, looking at it for a second before putting it next
to her bed and continues to put her clothes away.
INT. DINING ROOM - EVENING
Eden, her mother and her father are sitting at the dinner
table, which is full of food, an aroma of smells filling the
air. Eden is situated across from her mother and father, an
empty chair next to her.
CAROLYNN
Shame your sister wasnt able to
come.
EDEN
Yeah, shes been really swamped
with work and everything so she
didnt really have time to get out.
DENNIS
Well, your sister has been working
hard at her job the past couple
months.
Eden drones out of the conversation, her parents still
talking but she is unable to concentrate on their voices,
her mind elsewhere. She is pondering over something, a
worried look on her face as she picks at her food with her
fork. She is startled by her mothers voice.
CAROLYNN
You okay honey? You look like you
zoned out there for a second.
Eden thinks about this for a second, not knowing what to
say. Does she say shes fine or doe she finally tell them
the truth? She stares at her food for a second before
looking up, deciding on the latter.
EDEN
Mom, dad... Can I tell you
something?
DENNIS
Of course, you can tell us
anything.
(CONTINUED)

Eden takes a deep breath as she prepares to say something.
She has a nervous look on her face.
EDEN
Mom, dad. Im bisexual.
Theres a silence throughout the room. Her mother looks in
shock and her father in disbelief. Eden looks back and forth
between the two of them, waiting for a response.
CAROLYNN
(Shaking her head)
No honey, youre just confused
about everything! This is just a
little phase youre going through.
EDEN
Mom, Im 19 years old, this isnt a
phase! This is who I am.
CAROLYNN
No, no youre just confused about
everything. Going off to University
has done this to you, youve gone
off "experimenting" with other
people.
EDEN
Mom, no! I am not confused, I am
not experimenting with my
sexuality. I am who I am. Ive
always been this way whether you
like it or not, it just took me a
while to figure out who I really
was.
Theyre all yelling at this point. Eden and her mom are
having a go at each other, shouting back and forth while
Dennis tries to get some words in but is interrupted by his
wife.
DENNIS
(Looking at Carolynn)
Honey, I think you need to-
CAROLYNN
Dont tell me to do anything. You
had a boyfriend, youve had several
boyfriends!
EDEN
Just because Ive dated guys
doesnt make me any less bisexual.

EDEN (contd)
That what it means, Im attracted
in both girls and guys.
CAROLYNN
No, you cant be. Its wrong.
Youre just doing this for
attention!
EDEN
Why would I be doing this for
attention. Mom, this is the way I
am. I way born this way, nothing
changed me, I wasnt "made
bisexual" by something or someone,
its jut part of who I am.
CAROLYNN
I cant accepted this. I cant have
a bisexual daughter, I just cant.
Carolynn pushes her chair out and stands up, not able to
handle the situation anymore. She shakes her head as she
stands. She faces Eden, hand pointed towards the door.
CAROLYNN
I want you out.
EDEN
What?
CAROLYNN
I said, I want you out. You are no
longer allowed to step foot in this
house and you will no longer be
welcome by us.
Dennis stands up at this point, facing his wife and standing
up for his daughter.
DENNIS
Stop! I will not have any of this.
She is our daughter. Does it matter
who shes in love with as long as
shes happy?
CAROLYNN
(Looking at her husband)
Not you too! I cant support this.
I cant have a daughter like...
like that!
(CONTINUED)

DENNIS
I will not allow you to kick our
daughter out of the house, I dont
care who she loves as long as shes
happy and neither should you.
CAROLYNN
Fine, then Im leaving until youre
gone. I will not stay in a house
with this kind of behavior.
Carolynn looks at her daughter and her husband before making
her way out of the dining room, the slamming of a door heard
only a moment later.
INT. LIVING ROOM - EVENING
Eden is sitting on a couch in the living room, her father
sitting next to her.
DENNIS
Your mother will come around
eventually.
EDEN
How do you know she will?
DENNIS
Because I know your mother.
EDEN
I thought I did too but I never
expected her to do this.
DENNIS
(Sighing)
I think that she just needs some
time to think. Shell come around
eventually, itll just take some
time for her.
EDEN
(Nodding her head)
And you?
DENNIS
I dont care who you love, it
doesnt affect who you are; youre
still my daughter.
Dennis wraps his arm around his daughter, giving her a side
hug.
(CONTINUED)

DENNIS
So, have you met anyone?
EDEN
I dated this guy for a while, but
now Im dating this girl in my
class.
DENNIS
(Smiling)
Well, I would love to met her one
day. Im very proud of what you
did, that took a lot of guts and
Im proud.
EDEN
Thank you dad, that means a lot to
me.
DENNIS
So, tell me about her, this girl
from your class.
Eden smiles at her father as she angles her body towards him
and begins explaining to her father the girl from her class.
FADE TO BLACK.
