Brief Status:
Stage inspection of fabrication of 500 Nos. (I

lot of Spent Fuel Storage Trays vide above mentioned PO.

Detailed Report:

i). Material identification and verification of 3.0 mm thick SS plates of grade ASTM-A-240 SS
304. Test coupons was drawn for chemical & mechanical analysis from the lot where heat no.
is not visible/ printed on material and same were forwarded to M/s Hind Heat Treatment for
analysis.
ii). Visual inspection and penetrant testing were witnessed of fillet weld joints of channel to
stiffener plates of 50 nos. spent fuel storage trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP. Results
were found satisfactory.
iii). Fit up of channels to angles for 500 nos. trays were cleared for further fabrication work.

lot0Spent Fuel Storage Trays vide above mentioned PO.

Detailed Report:

i). Test certificate of 3.0 mm thick SS plates of grade ASTM-A-240 SS 304 was verified with PO
specification and test results were found satisfactory.
ii). Visual inspection and penetrant testing were witnessed of fillet weld joints of Angle to Channel
of 40 nos. ( For 400 nos. trays) spent fuel storage trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP.
Results were found satisfactory.
iii). Visual inspection and penetrant testing were witnessed of fillet weld joints of Channel to
Lifting Hooks of 25 nos. ( For 250 nos. trays) spent fuel storage trays on 10% basis as per
approved QAP. Results were found satisfactory. Witnessing of measurements of hook
dimensions were also done and found as per drawing.
iv). Witnessing of dimension check of Channel to Stiffener of 25 nos. ( For 250 nos. trays) spent
fuel storage trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP. Dimensions were found within tolerance
of drawing dimensions.

Detailed Report:

i). Visual inspection and penetrant testing were witnessed of fillet weld joints of Angle to Channel of 10 nos.
( For 100 nos. trays) spent fuel storage trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP. Results were found
satisfactory.
ii). Visual inspection and penetrant testing were witnessed of fillet weld joints of Channel to Lifting Hooks
of 25 nos. ( For 250 nos. trays) spent fuel storage trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP. Results were
found satisfactory. Witnessing of measurements of hook dimensions were also done and found as per
drawing.
iii). Witnessing of dimension check of Channel to Stiffener of 25 nos. (For 250 nos. trays) spent fuel storage
trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP. Dimensions were found within tolerance of drawing
dimensions.
iv). Visual inspection was carried out of 500 nos. Spent Fuel Storage Trays after pickling and passivation and
trays were found satisfactory.
v). Load testing of 10 nos. trays were witnessed at 270 Kg as per specification and result were found
satisfactory.
vi). 50 nos. trays were selected on random and 10% basis for stackability and interchangeability test and both
test were witnessed and result found satisfactory.
vii). One set of packing arrangement was also checked and found as per approved packing procedure.
viii). After segregation of unacceptable trays, 500 nos. Spent Fuel Storage Trays were accepted for issue of
shipping release for first lot of 2100 nos. trays.

Brief Status:

lot (Sr. No. 501 to 1000) of Spent Fuel Storage Trays vide above
mentioned PO.

Detailed Report:

i). Visual inspection and penetrant testing were witnessed of fillet weld joints of Angle to Channel of 50 nos.
(For 500 nos. trays) spent fuel storage trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP. Results were found
satisfactory.
ii). Visual inspection and penetrant testing were witnessed of fillet weld joints of Channel to Lifting Hooks
of 50 nos. ( For 500 nos. trays) spent fuel storage trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP. Results were
found satisfactory. Witnessing of measurements of hook dimensions were also done and found as per
drawing.
iii). Witnessing of dimension check of Channel to Stiffener of 50 nos. (For 500 nos. trays) spent fuel storage
trays on 10% basis as per approved QAP. Dimensions were found within tolerance of drawing
dimensions.
iv). Visual inspection was carried out of 300 nos. Spent Fuel Storage Trays after pickling and passivation and
trays were found satisfactory.
v). Clearance was given for pickling & passivation.
