DIAL-A-DEVOTION NUMBER to be NO2-6966
Bi-Ungual Convenfion Af
Eagle Pass Feb. 5, 6 & 7 . . .
The Annual Bi-Lingua! Convention sponsor
ed by Colegio Bibiico each year will be held
this year on February 5, 6 and 7, The con
vention is so called because it is conducted in
the English and Spanish languages. We here
at First Christian are especially interested in
the college since the president of the school is
our living link missionary, the name of Harland
Cary is well kncyn at Flora.
We have other interests in the convention
this year. Six members of our congregation
will be attending the convention on February
5-7, two of them will be speaking on the pro
gram. Our Preacher, P. A. Willis, and our
Bible School Superintendent, Glen Valbert, will
be speaking on the convention program (we
shall wait to see if they speak English or Span
ish). Miss Florence Douglas, Mrs. John
Oglesby, Steve Willis, Mrs. P. A. Willis will
also be attending the convention.
**The Living Hope For
The Hopeless Living""
This is the theme for our Missionary rally,
March 25-28. Our own missionary, Harland
Cary, will bring the keynote message 'The
Living Hope".
Other men who will speak include Paul
Bajko, Riley Donica, Harold McFarland, Hollis
Duhon and Robert Morris. Plan to hear each
of these men present their work.
We have been quite pleased with the re
sponse that we have received to the DIAL-A-
D.VOTION p ogram since it was initiated in
December. The program is quite unique and
promises to be a rich blessing to the spirituai
life of our community.
The number for this program will be chang
ed next Monday, February 5. The new number
will be NO 2-6966. There was a conflict
With another number and it was necessary for
the telephone company to change oitr number,
Several suggestions have been made to sup
port the financial needs for this program. We
welcome all gifts that could be made for the
DIAL-A-DEVOTION program.
We trust that this program will be a source
of spiritual blessing for every Christian and
would urge you to call each day. Suggest to
your friends that they call each day. The help
that it gives may go unheralded but the many
times that folk who are sick or shut-in have
mentioned how much they enjoy listening each
day make it a very beneficial program. There
may be times when you are despondent and
discouraged, call and listen to the devotion for
the day. Perhaps you will want to begin each
day with it or call just before retiring each
evening.
During the first month of the program there
was an average of 200 calls per day.
REMEMBER THE CHANCE TO NO 2-6966.

Missionary News
By Mrs. John Oglesby and
Mrs. Robert Brentlinger
I pray, Lord, just make me a poem.
Print it plain on the walls of my heart
That those who know me may read it
And heeding, choose the better part.
I pray. Lord, just make me a poem;
A living epistle so plain
Declaring thy precious will through me
That I may not have run in vain.
O I would that my life be a poem.
Running in a smooth flowing rhyme.
May the thought of the Christ who inspires it
Shine forth in its metre and time.
Yea, Lord, be thou in me, "The Poem",
Healing hearts of earth's sorrow and strife.
Revealing the mystery, "Christ in me,"
The world's hope, its light and its life.
Written by Jean A. Rothermel Roland,
Missionary to India.
The missionaries in India hold a yearly mis
sionary camp. This year it was held at Ennore
near Madras on the shore of the Bay of Bengal,
during December. Ralph Harter writes that he
observed his 37th birthday at the camp. Hei
also enjoyed the visit of the 15-year-old Emrys
Rees, son of David and Lois, who came early to
attend the Vijai Nagar Camp, and then toured
the homes of "uncles and aunts" until time for
the missionary camp. Ralph also expressed his
gratitude to the friends and relatives who join
ed together to provide him with a new pair of
glasses, Frank Rempel and Ralph were chosen
to serve as Joint Secretaries of the Kanpur
Branch of the Bible Society. Mrs. Rempel's
mother, Mrs. Dunbar, is now staying with them
in India. She returned with Frank the last of
November.
Miss Florence Douglas serves as forwarding
agent for Ralph Harter.

502 Lasf Sunday . . .
502 fine folk were in attendance tor Bible
School last Sunday morning. It certainly is
good to see that number go over 500. How
ever, we are still short of our goal of 569, with
a little more work we will be successful in at
taining the goal of 569.
Seven classes or departments made their
goal last Sunday and we want to congratulate
them for their fine work and attendance. They
were the Cleaners, Ever Ready, Minute Men,
Teen Gr Twenty, Challengers, Primary, and Be
ginners. Only three of the Youth Departments
did not make their goals. Help your class
make its goal this Sunday by being present for
Bible School.
Our average for the month of January was
464. This is much lower than we would like,
however, there has been much sickness and
bad weather. We trust that you will make
every effort to be present for iBible Schoo',
Morning Worship and Evening Worship next
Sunday.
