Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, that Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a Fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on Rt 5 in
the area of Seneca Lake State park . Deputies report that Richard I Riley age 39 of 1021 Waterloo-Geneva Rd Waterloo was travelling
eastbound in the westbound lane when he struck a westbound vehicle driven by Fredrick W Cieri Jr age 40 of 0570 Waterloo-Geneva Rd
Waterloo. Cieri's vehicle was then struck by another westbound vehicle driven by Kimberly H Lorenz age 55 of 895 Waterloo-Geneva
Road . Deputies report that Rileys vehicle spun upon impact and crossed the median , coming to rest in the eastbound lane. Both Cieri
and Lorenz's vehicles came to rest in the westbound lane. Fred Cieri was transported to Strong Mem Hosp in Rochester by North Seneca
Ambulance ,after being extricated from his vehicle by Border City and Geneva Fire Depts. He is being treated for a possible broken leg .
His passengers Darlene Cieri age 39 (front seat) and Andrew Cieri age 16 (rear seat) of the same address were transported to Geneva
General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance , where both were being treated for chest and leg pain. Kim Lorenz was checked at the
scene by Finger Lakes Ambulance and released.
Riley was pronounced dead at the scene by Seneca County Coroner Hugh Mecum. Deputies report that the road was closed for approx 4
hours , and were assisted by WaterlooPD , Geneva PD, NYSP, and Border City, Geneva and Waterloo Fire Depts.
Deputies report that the investigation is continuing
