HOUSING GUIDELINES
1. Only the approved dwelling design based from the community workshop and consultation will be
developed and constructed. Home owners are not allowed to alter the planning and design of the
house upon the construction and development of the community.
2.

In the event that the construction is finished and the family is awarded the rights to occupy the
dwellings, they are not allowed to alter the original faade or the original height of the house.

3. The occupying family are given the rights to extend the house.
Limitations:
a. The extension of the house should not alter the faade and front yard of the house. This is
to maintain the cleanliness and organization of dwelling blocks
b. The extension should not be beyond the original height of the roof upon construction.
c. Extensions at the back should have an allowance of 1.2 meters from the neighbors firewall.
4. The family has the freedom to design and develop the interior of the house provided pluming will
not be altered in any way.
5. Home owners are required to manage their own solid wastes, also it is required to allocate parcel
of land for compost pit. Humus will be collected as natural fertilizer for community vegetable
garden.

OWNERSHIP
6. Only rights will be given to the beneficiary of the housing program.
7. An evaluation team will evaluate the capabilities of the family to provide for their own house in
time.
8. In the event that the family can provide a house form themselves, the rights will be revoked from
them and they will be requested to relocate themselves.

COMMUNITY AND ENVIRONMENT


9. Fishing as a livelihood will be allowed.
Limitations
a. Only traditional fishing methods will be used. I.e. Nets, hooks, small fishing boats
b. Fishing will be limited to fishing zones
c. Fisherman are not allowed to do any form activity along sanctuaries where different forms
of wildlife may exist
10. Residents are encouraged to plant on community vegetable garden in order to sustain slam
portion of household products like vegetables and fruits.
11. Unemployed member of the community will be required to attend livelihood activities in order
to assist in paying the monthly dues for dwelling rights.
