Johns rucksack

Last August John and his family went on holiday. The night before John put all the things he
needed into his rucksack his camera, his favourite shorts and a toothbrush with his favourite
superhero on it. The next day they went to the airport and caught a plane to Tenerife.
When they arrived they took a taxi to the hotel. I think we should have lunch, said Johns
mum. But John was more excited about going to the beach. He went to his room to get some
things from his rucksack, but when he opened it he had a terrible surprise - there was no
beach ball, no kite, no striped shorts. Not even his superhero toothbrush. What he found was a
doll, a red spotted dress and a tennis racket! John hated tennis! Mum, Dad, Ive got the wrong
rucksack. Look everythings different. Wheres my superhero toothbrush?
His mum and dad looked at the rucksack. You picked up the wrong one at the airport, said
his dad. His mum found an address and a mobile telephone number on the rucksack. She
rang the number and spoke to a man who said his daughter, Sarah, had the wrong rucksack
too. It was very strange because they were staying at the same hotel!
The two families met at the front of the hotel. The children laughed and gave each other their
rucksack. The two of them spent the holiday playing together!
