DEATH RACE-II

Cowards die many times. The valiant die only once

INTRODUCTION
Life is a Race. These are not mere words rather they describe the very
evolution of man. Since time immemorial man has been racing against his
opponents to mount his supremacy in the world. One by one all have fallen to
the strength and might of man. But what would happen if he races against
wrath? Can he defeat extreme fury? Can he beat Death? Its your time to
prove your mettle when you race against all odds to outclass the Merchant of
Death. Build a manual bot capable of crossing all obstacles and come out of
the valley of death alive.

OBJECTIVE
Team must build a manual bot capable of traversing an entire track consisting
of different topographies including fire, water, gravel and much more.

ARENA
1. The tentative model of the arena is shown below.
2. Entire arena is divided into several zones each having a different
challenge to overcome.
3. In certain zones the bot has to surpass rotators of dimensions 20cm x
10cm x 2cm.
4. Certain zones contain pits of dimensions 15cm x 15cm.
5. The bot has to pass through rails of dimensions as shown.

BOT SPECIFICATION
DIMENSIONS AND FABRICATIONS
1. The top view projection of the bot must fit inside a box of dimensions
25cm X 25 cm X 25cm.
2. The weight of the bot must not exceed 4Kgs.
3. It may be wired/wireless and can only be controlled manually.
4. It should be stable, i.e. they should be able to stand on their own at the
beginning of the race.
5. It should not split into multiple parts.
6. Teams are not allowed to use lego kits and readymade RC cars.

POWER SUPPLY
1. Teams can use onboard power supply. They have to arrange their own
power supplies. However they will be provided with 230V,50Hz ac
supply.
2. The potential difference between any two points must not exceed 24V
DC.

REGULATIONS
1. The teams will have to submit their bot before the start of the
competition. Only those teams which submit their bots will be allowed
to participate. The bot will be handed back to the team during the
time of their run. Theyll be given 2 minutes to do any hardware
changes if they wish.
2. They will be given a 1 minute trial run.

3. At most 2 members of a team can be present near the arena, i.e. the
driver and if required another one to hold the wire.
4. The organisers may stop any bot at any time if they feel that it is
performing, or is about to perform, any action that is dangerous or
hazardous to people or equipment. No bot is allowed to use any
flammable, combustible, explosive or potentially dangerous processes.
5. The time measured by the organisers will be final and will be used for
scoring the teams. Time measured by any contestant by any other
means is not acceptable for scoring.
6. Any kind of argument or indiscipline is prohibited and may lead to
penalty or disqualification.
7. In case of any disputes / discrepancies, the organisers decision will be
final and binding. The organisers reserve the rights to change any or all
of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any will be
highlighted on the website and notified to the registered teams.

EVENT
Round1:-

1. The bot has to complete the entire track.


2. The scoring will be based on the time taken to complete the run.
3. A maximum of 3 restarts will be given to a team. No penalty will be
awarded for a restart.
4. During a restart, the bot will have to be restarted by putting it back
on the previous checkpoint and turned on again on the signal of the
judges. In a restart, the timer will not be set back to zero.
5. Maximum time allowed to complete the run is 5 minutes.
NOTE:- No rotators or other external difficulties will be active in this
round.

Round2:Apart from the rules in Round 1 the following rules are added to it:1. All difficulties will be active in this round.
2. Bonus time of 10sec will be deducted from final time on crossing a
check point.
NOTE:- The organisers are not responsible for any loss/damage to the bot
during the event.

SCORING
Round 1:- Total time taken to complete the run
Round 2:- Total time taken - (10 sec x check points crossed)
In case of a tie the team with less number of restarts will win.
In case of any other discrepancies the decision of the organisers will be
abiding.

TEAM SPECIFICATION
A team may consist of (a maximum of) 4 participants. Students from different
educational institutes can form a team.

ELIGIBILITY
All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes
are eligible to participate in INNOVISION 2013: DEATH RACE-II.
