Turkey Boot Camp Demo Day

February 5, 2015

The US Department of States Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) initiative
empowers young innovators through networking, skills building, mentoring, and access to financing
to develop startup solutions that address economic and development challenges. Since 2011, GIST has
engaged with science and technology innovators and entrepreneurs in 86 emerging economies around
the world, providing training and resources to help them build successful startups. This is done through
competitions, startup boot camps, and interactive online programs. GIST Startup Boot Camps empower
young science and technology innovators and entrepreneurs through virtual training and two days of
on-the-ground training and mentoring delivered by top US mentors and in-country partners. From
more than 50 applications, 20 teams were selected, based on a review of scientific concepts, market
potential, and a statement of intent. GIST Demo Day offers the top seven teams the opportunity to pitch
to the public, and allows the public to interact and network with all 20 teams.
