Dear Brother and Sister Elks,

The month of May has already arrived. The Maine State Elks
Convention will be held in Bangor on the first weekend of the
month. The following weekend will be Mothers Day. This is the
day we celebrate the cornerstone of most families, and, let Mom
know how grateful we are for all that she has done for us. For
those of us who have lost our Mothers, it affords us an
opportunity to reflect on her, and how she would sacrifice to
make sure we were all set in whatever lied ahead.
In honor of Mothers Day, our lodge will be hosting a Mothers Day Dinner and Show on
Saturday May 9, 2015. Social hour is at 6:00pm Dinner at 7:00 and the show at 8:00 pm.
Tickets are on sale for $20.00 each, which includes a meal and show. These shows
usually sell out, so don't miss your opportunity to enjoy a wonderful evening.
As of this writing, the Queen of Hearts is down to the final card. The excitement has
been growing every week. When we first started with this game, I envisioned that the
ultimate conclusion to it would be to go down to the last card. Little did I know, at the
time, that it would go this far.
On the Installation of Officers night, many members have pledged their support for the
upcoming year. As you know, it takes a lot of work to operate our Elks Lodge. There are
many Committees that could use some help. Currently, Sid is looking for a couple of
people to help out with the auditing committee. Friday night meal committee needs to
be filled. If you like to cook, this is a fun gig. The idea is to have a good meal at a
reasonable price. Also we need the Entertainment committee to come up with ideas for
Saturday nights. In the past we had a full banquet hall with live bands. Other ideas like
comedians, magicians etc..
Please don't be afraid to get involved. The more volunteers the easier it is for everyone.
TOGETHER WE CAN DO GREAT THINGS.
Thank you for your support
Sincerely yours in Elkdom

From the Secretary

Hello Fellow Elks!
Membership
We are in our first full month and membership dues are rolling in! We are still missing members dues that need to
be caught up or you will be dropped. If you need your card mailed, you will need to contact us and send us a selfaddressed stamped envelope. Be sure you paid last years dues to be up to date for this year membership card.
Some have paid assuming that they are up to date and they are one year behind. For those that paid before April 1,
2015, your cards were mailed and should have been received. In the future, this is the way the cards will be mailed
to you if you need them mailed. This saves us time, money and confusion as to who is supposed to have a card
mailed.
Wish List
We have a wish list that has been started and we would love to have some wishes granted by our wonderful
members. Some of the wishes are that we have copy paper, envelopes, and if you feel over generous, STAMPS! It
all adds up. Those were some of the bigger expenses we found during this time of year. Also, we could use some
paper products for our Friday nights to help with costs also. There is a full list in the office and listed on the
newsletter. We would love to have your support in that manner.
Meeting Information
We would like to sell the pool table for fair market value that has been in storage now for a year and we need the
space. We will be addressing this issue at the May 12, 2015 meeting to make a vote on the selling of the pool table.
You are a part of this lodge and every member counts. We would love to see you at this meeting and have you come
and give some input. Some other items for your notation is that we did very well with getting bills paid up to date
and now we have to push the weekends and the hall rentals to achieve a big year.
I would like to mention the membership. Please invite your friends and family to our Friday nights. We have some
wonderful new members and we would love to raise our membership over the 300 level. We can do this with your
help. If we get the numbers, we get the funds and we have a lodge. It is that simple. Lets be supportive and help
one another and try hard to get those new members in and signed up.
Boosters
This is a great way to help your lodge news and maybe remember a loved one. I have updated the boosters to the
best of my ability, if I have left you off the page, please contact me and I will make sure it is taken care of.
Lodge Growth
We did for the first time have a +1 (actually a +2) for our lodge, so please know we are growing and would
love to see you help us in this adventure especially in the coming months.
Adriane Kramer, Lodge Secretary

From the Treasurer

The Lodge has been doing well with renting the function hall, bingo on Wednesdays, and with Friday
nights. This has allowed us to bring our financial position closer to a status of being caught up. We
welcome more revenue opportunities to help the Lodge continue to support our operational expenses and
the community work we are a part of.
Rita Ouellette, Lodge Treasurer

From the First Lady;

I want to begin by thanking Maureen and Mike for all that they have done and continue to do. Roger and I greatly
appreciate it. I want to take this time to thank PER Mike Aube for presenting me with the First Lady Flowers. Im
sorry I don't remember what you said except for when you said...I would like to invite the new First Lady up ...I
really wanted to hide. I was not expecting that at all. If you only knew what was going through my head at that
moment! I think Mike along with the other officers knew what I was thinking. It was all over my face! With all that
aside, you all know that I am not much for the lime light. I really am a shy person.
I would like to thank everyone who helped with creating a fantastic night of Installation. It was beautiful. I was in
awe with how it was all conducted. Beautiful job officers. Very Classy.
We also want to thank all of you for the well wishes and the confidence that you have instilled in Roger and I .
Without all of you standing behind us we would not be here.
Its funny I told Roger he was signing up for this and everyone kidded me...ya you will be boots to the ground
shortly. I laughed and said. Ahh No I don't think so. Haha little did I know! I am here to support my husband in the
great endeavors that he has blindly taken on. But with our great and I mean GREAT Elk family and friends, we can
do anything we set our hearts and minds to. Roger and I know that you will all be there for us, and help keep the
Elks in the positive motion it has been in and will continue to moving forward. Were all in it together. That is really
why we decided to take this mighty task on. For the Elks!!! Lets all remember this...together we can do anything.
As a few we will fail. Theres alot to do. We appreciate your patience with all of the newbees. The busy bees!
Things will fall into place we have a wonderful team of people that stepped up. Thank you
God Bless,
Cecile Paradis, TFL
