I am happy that the warm weather is returning. With the warm weather comes BBQs, Lobster Feeds, a Pig Roast and of course our snowbirds. I know you had a warm winter (well warmer than us anyway) but we are glad to see you back safe and sound. WELCOME HOME, we missed you. Thank you to everyone who joined in the celebration of the 2014-15 Lewiston Elks Lodge Officer Installation. Our installing suite from the Skowhegan-Madison Elks #2531 did a great jobthank you all for taking the time to come to Lewiston to conduct the ceremony and for staying and having fun afterward. A very special thanks goes to Scott Bussier and Marge Carter for providing the delicious meal we had that eveningyou did a great job and I appreciate all you did to make the evening memorable. I would also like to thank Nancy Mahar and her fabulous kitchen detail: Dodie Vasiliauskas, Claire Pinette, Winni Gray, and Jackie and PeeWee Ricker for their help in serving and cleaning up. I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to my 2014-15 Suite of Officers. There have been changes that I would like to mention. I would like to give a special thank you to 2013-14 Loyal Knight Adriane Kramer. Due to Adrianes work schedule she is unable to make the Monday meetings and could not continue as an Officer. Her energy and dedication will be missedbut I am sure we will see her at event when her schedule permits. I am proud to announce that Claire Davis is now our Loyal Knight, PER Karen Staples is the new Lecturing Knight, and Liana Pinard is now our 3rd Trustee. We are still missing an Inner Guard, if you are interested in being an Officer this is a great way to see what it is like. Please contact me and I will be happy to talk to you about it. A new Elk year is underway. Again I would like to thank all of you for your continued support. My current office hours are Sunday afternoons from 3 PM to 6 PM and Tuesday evenings from 6:30 PM. Sunday hours may change due to things such hall rentals, state meetings, etc. however I will generally be in the office at some time each Sunday. Fellow Elk Members! Well, it looks like Spring is here to stay and it brings more enthusiasm here at the Lodge. Many events are planned for you to enjoy throughout the new fiscal year. We hope you are able to attend and, in turn, support our challenge to pay our bills on time and remain a well-functioning Lodge. It all comes down to money, doesn't it? The budget is a little tight right now. We have just received some hefty insurance statements and the City of Lewiston keeps reminding us of taxes due. We are making partial payments on all hoping that they will recognize our efforts. We can't, however, let them wait too long! We try to avoid finance charges as much as possible. The Lodge needs your participation by attending our functions, playing bingo and renting our banquet facilities (you will be delighted how less expensive it is for members). Please also, consider paying your dues. Note that if you are having a hard time with that, you can make payment arrangements and will be allowed to continue coming into the Lodge as a member. The Exalted Ruler and his officers are working hard to make the Lodge a great place to go to but we need your help. Thank you, folks! Marge Carter, Treasurer

Happy May and Happy Mothers Day I know that some Elk events can be somewhat daunting and ceremonial, especially to non-members. But the facts are they can be quite nice and inviting. As the year progresses I will try to give you an advanced description of the events so you know what will happen and about how long it will take. I am hoping that with this information you will give these events a try and enjoy them. This month the Elks celebrate Mothers with their Mothers Day Ceremony When: Where: Time: Dress: Why: Price: Food: May 11th Lewiston Elks Lodge 10:00 am Ceremony (this ceremony lasts about 30 to 35 min) Followed by a free Mothers Day Brunch The Officers will be in tuxedo but the others can wear whatever they want. Be comfortable and enjoy. Elks know that mothers are very special people and want to show how deeply all mothers are appreciated Free If you are interested in bring a dish for the brunch there is a sign-up sheet at the grill side bar
