History
Europeans encountered the first generation of artificial
grass at the Montreal Olympics in 1976. These artificial
grass surfaces, made of nylon or polyamide fibres with a
high density, were suitable for hockey and tennis, but not
for sports that involved sliding, such as soccer.
In 1983 Domo Sports Grass develops its first artificial
grass for hockey: a second-generation artificial grass,
with longer, less-dense fibres made of polypropylene; the
sand infill increases stability. This remains a top product
to this day.
The first Domo soccer pitch made of polyethylene yarn
followed in 1988, and contrasted sharply with older
artificial grasses: it was much softer and resistant against
UV radiation and cold. The first pitch is laid in Siberia.
In 2000 Domo Sports Grass introduces the third
generation of artificial grass pitches: made of polyethylene,
but now infilled with sand and rubber. The stability and
elasticity improve the playing qualities, and sliding is no
longer a problem. FIFA approves these pitches for training
and competition.

Brugge Belgium
Billerbeck Germany
Club Brugge has had a Domo artificial grass pitch since 2003. This pitch is used intensively, and to date they are extremely
satisfied with it. We have long been aware of the potential of artificial grass pitches. But this pitch exceeds all our expectations.
We compared the various artificial grass pitches on the market and after thorough research Domo Sports Grass was the most
attractive option. Dr. Michel DHooghe, Chairman of FIFAs medical committee.
Our football collection has been fully updated for 2009. All qualities have undergone the necessary lab and
field tests to ensure we only supply the highest quality pitches. The following pages described a selection from
our collection.
There are three main types of pitch in footballs artificial grass market.
1. Monofilament pitches with sand and rubber infill
VfL Billerbeck chose the latest VarioSlide S PRO product. The club had already seen a number of pitches of the VarioSlide type,
and was highly enthusiastic about this top technical playing product. UEFA Pro-Coach Dieter Tartemann also provided positive
advice about this type of grass mat, with which he has several years experience. The Billerbeck pitch was created to satisfy the
strictest FIFA requirements, namely FIFA 2STAR, and could therefore also be used without any problem for international competition. Thanks to the particularly sophisticated system concept with a hi-tech underlayer, playing properties can be guaranteed
in almost all weathers. For years, Billerbeck has also been the permanent base of operations for various big clubs in Germany,
including FC Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04. Both youth teams and the first team will therefore definitely get the chance to try out this
very latest development in artificial grass for football.
3. Unfilled pitches

A monofilament is a yarn that is extruded directly in a specific shape, which gives it a certain strength and also elasticity.
These qualities were recognised by official bodies such as UEFA and FIFA as high grade. The standards for FIFA* and
FIFA** were successfully satisfied.
This year, Domo Sports Grass is also available with a new monofilament football system, Domo Slide DS. This
product has been specially developed to provide the best in terms of durability and playing properties. Slide DS is
also a top football product at a highly competitive price.

By applying this to the entire surface, a pitch is created in which the grass yarns always
spring up nice and straight, thereby guaranteeing the playing properties of ball ball roll
and foot under the ball.
The helix shape retains the water for longer after a shower, allowing the pitch to cool down
more and guaranteeing a safer, more agreeable game.
This new technology is used in the new quality Domo Champion S PRO and
Domo VarioSlide S PRO.

In addition to the monofilament Slide grass mat, Domo has also introduced a top-grade monofilament with a
new yarn combination.
Artificial grass should always try and approach the appearance of natural grass as much as possible. The colours used for Champion S PRO are a perfect match for
the shades of natural grass. The grass fibres remain nice
and straight thanks to the profiling of the yarn, the Heliflex
technology and the sand and rubber infill.

The VarioSlide product line is a revolutionary artificial grass with a very natural appearance that is hard-wearing.
From a technical playing perspective, these are top products. They use the unique Duo Yarn System patented by
Domo. Duo Yarn System stands for a 100% propeller monofilament grass surface to which a second type of yarn
is added, creating extra added value.
The new VarioSlide S PRO generation uses the Heliflex technology reinforced with a hi-tech profiled film. The
fibrillated yarn from the previous VarioSlide generation has been replaced by a hard-wearing ribbed film. This film
ensures a number of unique extra benefits on the pitch.

5. No displaced rubber
8. Test reports. Domo VarioSlide S PRO has been tested to all major standards:
6. Cooler pitch
The tips of the profiled monofilm split when the pitch is
used, forming a perfect protective layer for the rubber
infill. Sunlight does not come into direct contact with the
rubber, thus preventing long-term heating of the grass
mat. The helix shape also ensures that less sunlight hits the
filament, which means the grass mat heats up less. This
helix shape also ensures that the water (after a shower) is
retained for longer, allowing the pitch to cool down more.
This helps prevent burns during intensive use.
7. Maintenance-friendly thanks to
profiled monofilm
A Domo VarioSlide pitch requires regular brushing.
Topping up with rubber and sweeping are limited by
the profiled monofilm net that holds the rubber infill
in place and keeps it level during brushing, or when
clearing the snow from a pitch.

onstant ball roll and a natural trapping
technique.
Thanks to the Natural Resilience System, the ball
rolls as if on natural grass. The grass yarn stands
up perfectly straight without filling due to its
specific profiling and the close construction of the
grass surface. This allows for a natural trapping
technique. The ball is carried by the fibres, allowing
the foot to easily get under the ball to make a long
pass or trap a high ball. The grass yarn also springs
back perfectly after each time it is pressed down. In
addition, and in contrast to natural grass, the playing
properties remain constant throughout the year. After
all, on a natural grass pitch the ball rolls less far in
the summer than in the winter, which players do not
always find easy to anticipate.
Cooler pitch
The absence of rubber infill means the pitch heats up
much less and also does not retain heat. The specific
profiling of the grass yarn also retains moisture better,
allowing the field to cool naturally.
No displaced rubber
Champion Ascari is non-filled, so displaced rubber
grains are now definitively a thing of the past.
No rubber odour
Champion Ascari is non-filled, so rubber smells are
no more.
4. Minimal maintenance
5. Ecologically sound
6. Faster installation
Because no rubber has to be added, installation is
quicker. If time is a crucial factor, this can be very
important to the success of a project.
