1.0 OBJECTIVE
To have a standardized lab report format
2.0 INTRODUCTION
These are instructions to assist the student in preparing his/her lab report for
submission. This document has been prepared using the required format. The electronic
version of this document can be found at Portal. The lab report must be original work
that should not have been copied, or imitated from others student. The lab report must
have been written in English. The lab report should contain, in general, the following
items: objective, introduction, procedure, results, discussion, conclusion, questions and
references.

3.0 PROCEDURE
Students are encouraged to use the font, Times New Roman. The acceptable font size
for the general text is 12 points. Report should typed, one and half spaced, on one side
of the paper using Microsoft Word word processor. Single spacing is recommended for
figure/table caption. The lab report copies submitted should be bound with ____

4.0 RESULT
The stipulated margins for the general text are follows:
Top edge

: 2.5 cm

Right side

: 2.5 cm

Left side

: 3.5 cm

Bottom edge : 2.5 cm

Figure/table must be properly centered on the page within the prescribed margin. The
word Figure or Fig., or Table is numbered in Arabic numeral (i.e. Figure 1.0 and Table
1.0) and its caption placed below and above the figure or table respectively. Figures
must be clear and usually of standard format i.e. jpeg, tiff, giff, etc. Students need to
explain all figure/table presented in the report.

5.0 DISCUSSION
Each page of the paper should be appropriately numbered, starting with the number 1
after Content. The page numbers should be in Times New Roman font, point size 12 and
centered horizontally across the bottom of page.

6.0 CONCLUSION
Format for preparation of lab report for submission to ERT 103 Engineering
