SAF44: TO BE A HERO

Narrator1: Every one of us wants to become a hero. (Wants to become a


hero wants to become a hero!)
Narrator2: But must sacrifice, (sacrifice!) For the people whom they loved
and for the Country, they served (all).
Narrator3: To those who offer their lives for the sake of freedom, (for the
sake of freedom) and peace for their countrymen, (peace for the
countrymen!) considered as heroes.
Narrator1: Our Fellowmen SAF 44 truly loves the country that they would
fight until their last breath. No hesitations, regrets, or negative thoughts,
(negative thoughts.) They are unbelievably brave.
Narrator2: codename Oplan Exodus, Oplan Exodus, Oplan Exodus(all) which
took place on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Mamasapano, Maguindanao,
by Special Action Force (SAF) against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom
Fighters (BIFF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The operation
was intended to capture or kill wanted Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli Abdhir and
other Malaysian terrorists and/or high-ranking members of the BIFF.
ACT1
(Gary enters)
GARY: this is I Police Senior Inspector Gary Erena of elite Special Action
Force. I served the country and protects its sovereignty.
Narrator3: Garry, He was a man of ambition, (a man of ambition, a man of
ambition) and his dreams werent just his own. Wanting to secure, (secure!)
For a good future for him, his bride-to-be and their future family.

Narrator1: His fiance, lawyer Suzette, (lawyer Suzette) had planned to


marry, (marry) next year.
Suzette: why do you want to sacrifice your own life for the people if I am the
one who might lost, I wont lose you Gary.
Gary: love! This is what I am, youre right, I dont want also to lose you but
its for our future life.
Suzette: if for the sake of our future, you dont need to enter that kind of
life.
Narrator2: for at that time, Suzette, (Suzette!) Planned to go back to
Philippines after the operation of Gary and for the marriage that they want
for almost a year.
Gary: my love, once I finish this operation, Im going to make sure that we
could see and make love in the front of the altar.
Suzette: that is promise?
Gary: oh yes of course.
(Both emerge)
ACT 2
Narrator3: December 2014, from the family of Gary, (Family of Gary!) They
celebrate together their Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve
(all). In that time, Gary and his mother have a conversation.
Mother: Son, after this year, you leave us again.
Gary: this is also for the benefits of brothers, sisters and for you mom.
Mother: I hope you will be okay throughout your way. (Hug)
Narrator1: the vacation of Gary would not be forgettable, (forgettable, and
forgettable)
Narrator2: after the day comes, Gary went back to work, (work, work).

ACT 3
Narrator3: January 2015, all PNP SAF called for the training of oplan exodus,
(oplan exodus, oplan exodus) and one of those is Gary. For the said training,
the Operation intended to capture or kill the most wanted terrorist (terrorist,
terrorist.)

Narrator1: January 24, 400 PNP SAF were mobilized to oplan exodus in
Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
Gary: I hope this is the last battle, so I can go home.
Narrator2: They were able to exchange, (exchange, exchange) on the text
messages while the SAF official and his troop were on their way to
Mamasapano. Erana told his fiance that he loves her so much and that they

Gary: my love, Im on the way.
Suzette: to where?
Gary: to Mamasapano, Maguidanao. Suzette, I love you so much we will see
each other again soon.
Suzette: what do you mean?
Narrator3: after they exchanged a lot of messages, (messages, and
messages) Gary didnt reply because they were arrived.
Narrator1: because of that, Gary did not open the last message of Suzette.

ACT4
Narrator2: 2am, January 25, primary SAF Team silently went into (target,
the target, the target) inside Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
Narrator3: As the secondary/reinforcement SAF Group controlled the
Mamasapano highway.
Narrator1: 5am, Gary together with the primary SAF team sent message to
the Head Quarter that the target Malaysian Terrorist Marwan was killed in
the operation, (was killed, was killed)
Gary: roger, roger, come in (2x) the target was dead.
Narrator2: 7am, the primary SAF team retreated back to regroup with
secondary SAF Unit.
Narrator3: as the team were on the back to Head Quarter, they encountered
a full force of enemies! (enemies,enemies)
Narrator1: 9am, January 25, in an open corn field it was the KILLING ZONE.
(Killing zone, killing zone!)

Gary: Reinforcement! Reinforcement! Lots of enemies, come in, lots of


enemies!!
Narrator2: more than 300 MILF-BIFF were positioned around the killing
zone. (300,300,300!) And snipers were in place (snipers, snipers)
Narrator3: Gary is still kept on transmitting messages to the tactical
command post repeatedly asking for reinforcements and for the location and
situation of the assault team.
Gary: I repeat, I repeat, were are now out-numbered!
Narrator1: 1pm, the last call of reinforcement. (The last call, the last call!)
Narrator2: as Gary slowly fades its hope, he remembered his loved ones and
specially Suzette.
Gary: it is now the end, Suzette, mother, my family, see you soon
Narrator3: Outnumbered, out-of-ammunition, no reinforcements. The fallen
44 SAF fought on open ground to the end. (to the end)
Narrator1: The brave SAF soldiers become a Legend and the Legend
becomes History.
Narrator2: For the country and family, Gary together with his fellowmen
were truly heroes (were truly heroes), for us, to be a hero is never been so
easy but if we dont want to, who? (who) If we dont want to do, (when?) To
Become A Hero (all)
