preseason,I'mreallylookingforwardtothestrengthofUdyrthisseason.

StrengthsandWeaknessesofUdyr

Overall,

Udyrisoneofthestrongestmidlategamechampionsthereis.Hisspeed,damageandtankiness

combinedmakehimadeadlythreattoalmostanyteamcomp.Let'sstartbylookingathisstrengths.
Greatclear,veryhardtobecounterjungled.MaxingPhoenixStancecontributestoUdyr'sincrediblejungle
clear.
Incredibleatsplitpushing.Udyr'ssplitpushingpowersareunparalleled.Oncehe'ssatedwiththisbuild,he
caneasily1v1andsometimes1v2ormoredependentonhowaheadheis,sotheenemyteamhasto
eithersendatleast2peopleforyouorjustoneandthenyoukillthemandtaketheirbase.Seemore

Veryhighmobility.OnceyourBearStanceismaxedandyougetthefullspeedboostfromit,youarepretty
muchuncatchablesinceyoucanspambetweenBearandTurtle,whichgivesyoumassivemovespeedand
ashieldeveryfewseconds,plusthefullystackedpassive Monkey'sAgility.
Cansolodragearly.Yourearlygamekitisperfectforsoloingdrag,somakesuretoobtainthoseobjectives
early,readmoreaboutwhenandhowyoushouldsoloitinobjectivessection.
StrongCCwithstun.Yourstunisveryuniqueinthatyoucanstuneveryenemyontheirteaminundera
fewseconds.UsingBearStanceonanenemyputsa5seconddebuffonthemwheretheycan'tbestunned
again.Inteamfightsthiscanbeveryusefulasyoucanhelppeelbystunningtheirfrontline,andthendive
thebacklineandstuntheircarriesbeforeyouroastthemwithyourphoenix.
Oneofthehighestdamagechampslategame.Asyou'llfindoutveryquickly,thisbuildgivesyouoneof
thehighestdamageoutputsinthegameonceyou'resatedwithrageblade.Afterthatyoucangotanky,
butonceyouhityourpowerspikearound1520minutesdon'tbackdownfromfights,don'tbeafraid.
Prettymuchnoonecan1v1youtherestofthegameunlessthey'reinsanelyfed.
However,Udyrhashisdownsidesaswell,specificallyonemajorone:crowdcontrol.
Canbekitedbychampswithhighmobility/cc.Unfortunately,eventhoughUdyrhasmanystrengths,this
onethingcanbeamassiveproblemandisthemainreasonheisnotplayedmuchinLCS.Hereliesonface
tofacecombat,pummelingenemiesdownwithhisfists,butbecauseofthat,hecanbelockeddown/kited
fairlyeasily.Stuns,slows,fears,binds,silences,etcprettymuchallremoveUdyrfromafight.Thisiswhat
wehaveitemsforthough.Thereasonyoualmostalwayspurchase Mercury'sTreadsisbecauseit
reducesthedurationofallcrowdcontrolby20%,whichisincrediblystrongforyou.Forteamswithalotof

Verymanadependent.Allofyourskillscostmana,andtoplayUdyrtohismaximumpotential,everyfight
requiresyoutorotatequicklythroughyourabilities.ThiscanrunUdyroomveryquickly,soyouneedto
keepaneyeonyourmanabarbeforeenteringafightandknowabouthowmanystancesyoushift
throughbeforeyoujustbecomeanautoattackingbear.Also,alwaystakethefirst2bluebuffsunlessmid
lanedesperatelyneedsthesecondoneasitwillhelpyourjungleclearandabilitytoganklanesimmensely.

Ifyou'regoingdevoureryouhavetotaketheferocitytreeasitwillgiveyouincredibleamountsofburstdamage
midlategame.Fortunatelywiththenewmasterysystemyoudon'thavetosacrificetoomuchtankinesssinceyou

scenariosinwhichghostismorebeneficialthanflashonUdyr.Firstoff,youhavenoabilitytogooverawallsoany
timeyouneedafastescapetopreventdeath,orajumpoverbaron/dragpittostealobjectives,you'llbescrewed
withoutflash.Second,inteamfightsthereisnobetterwaytodisruptacombo/takeouttheenemycarriesthan
flash.Let'ssayforexamplethatateamfightstartsandtheenemyteamhasanMFwhostartstochannelherult.
Insteadofghostingandpossiblybeingcc'dalongthewaytoherandbeingdeadbythetimeyoureachher,you
justinstantlyflashontoher,stunher,andsaveyourwholeteamfromtheultwhile2shottingherwhileshe's
stunned.Orforanotherexample,let'ssaytheirteamhasakillerwombocombo(malph/ori/yasuo)forexample.If
theyengageonyou,youwon'tbeabletoghostoutintimebutyoucanflashtheirengageandblowuptheir

Forearlygameganks,flashandghostareprettymuchevenintermsofusefulness.Bothhavetheirbenefits,butif

beforebuyinganythingelse.ManypeoplewillarguethatbecauseUdyralreadyhassuchgreat
junglesustain,it'sanunnecessarybuy.However,therearemanyreasonswhythatiscompletely
false,themainreasonbeingHunter'sPotionallowsyoutoprettymuchneverbackifyoudon't
wantto.Youstartwith5stacks,andeverytimeyoukillajunglecreature,itrefills1stack(if
you'reatmaxstacksitwilluseachargeonyouandthenrefillthatcharge).Andthebestpartis,
itrefillsyourmana.Soyoucanclearyourwholejungleextremelyfastandcomeoutwithfull
manaandhealthwith5stacksstillonyourpotion.Ithasatonofotherusesaswell:soloingrift

But you don't even need the extra sustain

from this potion. You can already heal up
with turtle stance and your jungle item, so
I literally see no reason to buy this. I'm still
not sold, although I'm probably not making
as big of a deal over this compared to
someone like embracing.

/dragonis10timeseasiersinceyoucanjustuseall5stackswhenyoustarttheobjectiveand
endupatfullhealthandmanaafterwards.Oryoucouldgankalane,losesomehealthfromthe

theenemyteamdoesn'thaveanythreateningADchamps.Thisiswhyalotofpeopleadvise
gettinga FrozenHeartasyourfirstitem.However,mostofthetimeyoursupport,oreven
sometimestoplaner,willendupgettingoneandyouwon'tneedtobuythisitem.Iceborn
Gauntletprovidesthesamemana/cdrandplentyofarmorbutgivesyouoneofthestrongest
passivesinthegameforUdyr.It'sthesheenpassive(bonusdamageonhitafterusingaspell)
butitalsocreatesanicyzonethatslowsenemies,thaticyzoneiswhatmakesthisitemso
powerfulonUdyr.Younowslowenemiesanytimeyouattackthem(sinceyou'reconstantly
changingstances),whichmakesit10timesharderforenemiestoescapeyourclaws.Because
yourelysoheavilyonclosecombat,thisitemhelpspreventyourbiggestdownfall:beingkited.
Andthatiswhythisisanessentialiteminthisbuild.

he tanks as much damage as they do
later in the game is through his
movement speed.
He'll run towards the carry, and force the
carry to kite back. Then, he'll run back
towards the front line to continue dealing
meaningful DPS, and make the carry
waste time running back to auto attack
him. At least that's what my mentor has
to say on this matter. Anyways, you've
