MR HERRINGTONS BIG RUN

school for investigations and science

lessons.

You will remember that back in August we

lost an incredible girl, Hafsah Azeem. She
was a bright, caring and hard-working child
who was a role model to everyone.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION DONATIONS

A few months ago we sold stationery and
merchandise in aid of the Royal British
Legion. This week the charity got in touch
to say thank you and to confirm that we
raised a grand total of 333.05! Well done
everyone.

To honour her memory, I will be running

the Paris Marathon during the Easter
holidays. I will be raising money for Candle
Lighters, who are a local charity that
support the families of children effected by
cancer.
My target is to raise 100 for each mile of
the marathon (2620, in total!). If you
would like to donate you can do so on my
Just Giving pagehttps://
www.justgiving.com/Stuart-Herrington
You can donate via textJust text HERR47
to 70070 quoting the amount, e.g. HERR47
10. Alternatively, donations can be made
at the office.
Your donations are hugely appreciated by
Hafsahs family and myself, and they will
certainly help me to go the extra mile
during the run!

WORLD BOOK DAY

Yesterday we celebrated World Book Day
with a special assembly and lots of fun
activities in class.
PARENTS EVENING
Next week it is Parents Evening:
Tuesday 8th March Usher Street
Wednesday 9th March New Cross Street
We recently sent out letters with further details
about how to book a slot to see your childs
teacher. If you have not yet returned your
letter, please do so as soon as possible to avoid
disappointment.

As part of Book Day, Madeline Lindley, a

company where we order books from, have
kindly donated a book for every child in
school! We are overwhelmed by their
generosity, and I know that all our children
will be very pleased to receive their free
book.

Parents Evening is a great chance to talk about

how well your child has been doing so far this
year, and what next steps they can take to
make even more progress in the run up to the
summer.
NEW TO ENGLISH TRIP
This week our New to English children visited a
fantastic adventure playground called Creepy
Crawlies. They had a brilliant time, and even
the teachers had a go on the big slide!

A quick note for your diarieswe will soon

be breaking up for the Easter Holidays.
School will close on Thursday 24th March
(the 25th March is Good Friday so we will
be closed), and will re-open on Monday
11th April.
Have a great weekend. The forecast is
snow, so make sure you wrap up warm!

G.E.M. DAY
Children celebrated our first GEM Day of the
year on Friday. We learnt all about the
different jobs that children might do when
they are adults. They also took part in
activities to find out what skills and qualities
employers look for. Well have another GEM
Day in June to find out more about the
working world.

EASTER HOLIDAYS

Stuart Herrington
MICROSCOPE DONATION
A big thank you Kemira, the local chemical
company that sponsors our high-viz jackets,
who have donated a full set of microscopes to
our science lab at Usher Street.
The kit will be used by children across the

Principal.
