Guidelines for Masses and Guest Priests

The Metropolitan Bishops of Manila during our last meeting with His Eminence
Gaudencio B. Card. Rosales last February 22, 2007 agreed to implement in our respective
Dioceses the enclosed Guidelines for Masses in Shopping Malls and for Mass in Funeral
parlors as well as the Guidelines Governing Priests Presence and Participation in the
Priestly Ministry within The Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Province of Manila.
The provisions of these Guidelines are, therefore, to be incorporated in our
Manual of policies in our Diocese. Please take note of No. 9 Guidelines for Masses in
Shopping Malls that Masses in Banks, Institutions (Schools), Offices and in Residential
Subdivisions within the Parishes follow the same Guidelines prescribed for the Malls
His Eminence Cardinal Rosales intends to write all owners and/or managers of
the above mentioned places preparatory to our meeting with them on a specific date. In
order for Cardinal Rosales to write to all the owners and/or managers, may I please ask
all Parish Priests to submit to this Chancery, as soon as possible, the names and addresses
of all owners and/or managers of:
1. Shopping Malls
2. Funeral Parlors
3. Banks
4. Institutions (Schools)
5. Offices and
6. Chapels in Residential Subdivisions
within your respective parishes.
We should have a chance to discuss the implementation of all these guidelines as
well as to entertain questions for clarifications from you during our next meeting. Please
table this as an agenda for March 13.
