B. Define circle; and
C. Determine the parts of a circle.

II.

SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic: Circle and its parts
b. References: Grade 7 Math Module pp. 233-236
c. Materials: PowerPoint presentation, projector, cartolina, marker and a ruler
d. Values: Show cooperation and attentiveness

III.

PROCEDURE
A. Activity

2.

Motivation: (Group Activity)

a. The students will be divided into two groups.
b. Each group will be given a cartolina, ruler and a marker.
c. Using those materials, they will be tasked to draw a point somewhere in the
middle of their cartolina.
d. Using a ruler, mark 15 other points that are 10cm from the first point.
e. Each group will have a representative to answer this question: What shape do
you recognize?

B. Analysis
Presentation: Circle and Its Parts
Circle- is a shape with all points at the same distance from its center.
Center- the point from which all points on a circle are equidistant.
Radius- a line segment that joins any point on the circle to its center.

Diameter- a line segment that joins any two points on the circle and passes through its
center.
Chord- a line segment that joins any two points on the circle.
Secant- it is a line that intersects the circle at any two point on the circle.
Tangent- is a line that intersects the circle at exactly one point on the circle. This point is
called Point of Tangency.
Arc- is the distance between any two points around a circle. An arc divides the circle into
two parts: the smaller arc is called the minor arc, the larger one is called the major arc.
Semicircle- is half of the circle.
