SPRING

Curriculum update
This month in math, we are focusing on story
problems with addition and subtraction, 2D and 3D
shapes, and physical attributes. If you are wanting to
extend your students learning at home, you could ask
him/her to tell you the shape of objects throughout
your home or even driving around running errands.
For example, What shape is my coffee cup? That is
a cylinder! It has two faces on either end that are
circles.
In reading, we are continuing to work on
answering questions by referring back to the text.
When you read at home with your child, dont forget
to ask questions and ask them to go back to the page
where they found the answer.
For writing, we are working on using research
to motivate our writing. Try reading non-fiction texts
with your child and asking them to retell the facts
within the book.

Hello!
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as
student teacher and appreciate all the
parents who have volunteered time or
supplies. After Spring Break, I will only
have 3 weeks left. At this time I will be
passing part of the day back to Mrs. Davis
and we will be co-teaching.

Conscious Discipline Tip:

If your child is coming home having had a
problem with a friend, ask them to
practice this Conscious Discipline phrase:
I dont like it when you __________
please ________ ( do___ instead, etc.).
They need to say it with a firm, serious
voicewe call it our Big Voice.
