QUIZ BEE RULES & REGULATIONS

A. ROUNDS PROPER
1. There will 3 rounds of different difficulties - Easy, Medium, Hard
2. Each round shall consist of 5 questions each.
3. Each round shall have the following point allocations for each question:
* Easy - 1 point each
* Medium - 3 points each
* Hard - 5 points each
4. A question's time limit shall depend on its difficulty level.
* Easy - 10 seconds
* Medium - 20 seconds
* Hard - 30-60 seconds
4. For Hard questions, the proctor shall determine the appropriate time limit
beforehand , within 30 to 60 seconds, depending on the question's actual
difficulty.
5. In case all of the participating teams weren't able to answer the question
due to lack of time, a 10-second extension will be given.
After such extension, if teams would still not be able to answer, the proctor
shall change the question. For this purpose only shall the proctor
change the question.
For all other reasons except for the lack of time for Hard Questions, NO TIME
EXTENSION SHALL BE GIVEN.
6. Should the proctor change the question, the new question shall be
considered a replacement of the latter and shall not lessen the number of
subsequent questions. (For example, the 3rd question was changed. The new
question shall still be considered the 3rd question. There shall still be 2
questions left to be answered (4th and 5th).)

7. If, after such replacement, teams would still not be able to answer, the
competition shall move on and the proctor shall ask the next subsequent
question.
8. If two or more teams have the same number of points after the game, a
tie-breaking question shall be given. The question shall have a 60-second
time limit WITH NO TIME EXTENSIONS. If , after the tie-breaking question,
there still be teams with the same number of points then the winner shall be
decided based on their accumulated points on the HARD LEVEL. A tie shall
only be declared if the teams are still equal after such measures were taken.
9. THERE SHALL BE NO PARTIAL POINT CONSIDERATION FOR ANY QUESTION
ON ANY LEVEL except for the tie-breaking part wherein the proctor or judges
shall determine the closest answer based on the teams' solution.
B. TEAMS
1. There shall be 5 members per team.
2. Each team shall write their answers on the appropriate medium given.
3. Any member can answer the question.
4. The teams should interact with themselves quietly.
5. No gadgets are allowed to be used. No bags shall be with the competitors.
Only scratch papers provided and pens shall be permitted on the table. No
other paraphernalia shall accompany the competitors.
6. Coaching from the audience is not allowed. Teams shall be disqualified for
violating this even from the first offense.
7. There shall be one supervisor from the faculty per table to ensure honesty
and obedience from the competitors.
8. Teams can only start answering the question after the second repetition.
Violation of this shall be penalized with point reduction regardless of the
answer given.
9. Any other violation of proper conduct shall be penalized duly by the
proctor.
C. JUDGES &/OR PROCTOR
1. There shall be one proctor or quiz bee facilitator.

2. Judges may be asked to help decide on questions.


3. The proctor shall be given an answer sheet and complete with solutions if
needed be.
4. The proctor shall read the question loudly for only 2 times. THERE SHALL
BE NO REPETITION OF THE READING OF QUESTIONS.
5. Other responsibilities/privileges of the proctor are determined in the
previous sections of this Rules & Regulations.
6. The proctor shall decide on any matter or contest alongside with the
judges if there are any.
7. The proctor shall have the final say.
