RULES FOR CANCER AWARENESS QUIZ COMPETITION 14TH OCTOBER, 2023

(1:30PM TO 2:30PM)
BEAUTY BOX STORE, GIFTLAND MALL
1. Twelve questions will be asked in the entire quiz competition.
2. The students will be given the Cancer Awareness Resource Material to study from for
the competition days before the competition. Questions will only be taken from the
resource material given to the students.
3. Each question is worth five marks/points
4. No one should be allowed to write questions, neither teachers/coaches nor students.
5. Judges are to tick each question after it has been read.
6. There will be six judges. Each judge will ask two questions in the entire competition.
7. Each individual judge will read or ask his or her questions to the students directly.
Beginning with Judge Number One who will ask the first question, followed by Judge
Number Two whom will ask the second question, and continuing in that order.
8. Each question is to be read twice by the individual judges before timekeeper keeps
check of time and student is allowed to answer.
9. Moderator and Judge will inform the audience whether the student has correctly
answered the question.
10. If the student answer his or her assign question incorrectly, then student number one
will have the opportunity to answer that question as a rebound question for the same 5
points and continuing in that order until all participants has a chance to answer the
question or the right answer gotten on rebound.
11. If the students are unable to answer the question or if the answer given is incorrect, the
moderator should provide the correct answer.
12. Judges will inform moderator when to proceed with next question.
13. Individuals will be allowed 5 seconds to begin the answer to a question and a further
10 seconds to complete the answer. If a question remains unanswered after 15 seconds,
it will be assumed that the answer is not known.
14. Tie-breakers will be used, if necessary, to produce an overall winner.
15. Any dispute or appeal regarding a decision of the judges must be fully substantiated
and will be addressed before the final tally.
16. The judges’ decision is final.
17. Points will be deducted for any breach of the rules during the competition.
18. The first answer given will always be the one accepted.
19. Please answer directly to the question asked.
20. Speak very clearly so that your answers may be clearly heard by everyone listening.
21. If dishonesty of any kind is detected, the student will be automatically disqualified from
the competition.
22. Not withstanding any of the above, the judges reserve the right to make decisions based
on their assessment of prevailing conditions.
