Agriculture Knowledge Quiz Bowl

1.

Each chapter is entitled to two teams of three to five chapter members.

2.

Chapters must register one week prior to the event. When registration is made a
list of 50 questions with answers must be submitted to the host chapter to use at
the event.

3.

Each questioning session will consist of a predetermined set of short answer


questions.

4.

The contestants will be asked questions in which they will have five seconds to
respond.

5.

Should an individual ring in before the question is finished, the reading will stop
and an answer is needed. If that question is missed, the opposing team
contestant shall have a chance to answer the question correctly after the
question has been read in its entirety.

6.

If there is a tie in the team score at the end of the designated questioning period,
the round will continue until the tie is broken.

7.

A designated captain may point out an error.

8.

All questions asked will deal with animal science, plant & soil science, agriculture
mechanics, horticulture, agriculture sciences, and general agriculture.

9.

Section 11 FFA officers may be asked to assist in this CDE.

10.

The CDE will be a double elimination format unless 6 or fewer teams are present
then a round robin format will be used.

11.

Teachers may observe, but may not make any comments.

12.

All teams must pre-register with the CDE host one week before the CDE date.

13.

This is an official dress event.

14.

No student will be allowed to participate in Agriculture Knowledge Quiz Bowl and


the Greenhand Quiz Bowl the same year.

15.

Any team member may answer the question.

Knowledge Bowl Procedures


1.

No conferring by any team member at any time during the questing sessions.

2.

The reader and any talking will issue warnings one time after that the penalty is 1
point deduction for each occurrence.

3.

If a question is read in its entirety and neither contestant answers, it will not be
repeated.

4.

No one may observe any of the questioning sessions except for teachers or
helpers.

5.

No one may record any session or write down the questions as they are read
during the CDE.

6.

When the match is over, it is over. The captains must discover errors during the
match.

7.

Readers will try to answer each question correctly and will go over the questions
just prior to the CDE.

8.

Every effort will be made to insure that the questions will not be repeated.
