GROUP QUIZ BEE MECHANICS

I. General Rules

1. The contest shall be participated by 15 teams. Each team must have three (3)
participants – one (1) second year BSA student and two (2) first year BSA students
of Colegio de Dagupan.
2. The contest is composed only of ONE (1) round with 33 questions coming from the
different subjects mentioned under the Scope portion of this paper. The questions
will be equally derived from among the subjects included and each item will be
worth three (3) points.
3. The contestants should be at the place of competition fifteen (15) minutes before
the scheduled time. The time and place will be announced prior to the start of the
contest during the morning program.
4. Late contestants are still allowed to participate however they will be deprived to
answer the question(s) missed. But after the first five (5) questions have lapsed, late
contestants will be disqualified.
5. Clarifications regarding the rules of competition shall be entertained by the
committee before the start of the contest.

II. Scope

1. The quiz bee shall cover ALL CAEC subjects of students enrolled under the BSA
program from first year to second year-1st semester. The following are the
subjects included:

III. Quiz Bee Proper

1. Cellular or mobile phones are not allowed during the contest proper.
2. The teams will write their answers on the white board provided by the committee
using white board markers.
3. Type of questions will be multiple choice and identification.
4. Theory questions will have a time limit of 10 seconds for multiple choice type and
15 seconds for identification type of question.
5. For problems requiring computations, contestants will be given 45 seconds to
answer regardless of the type of question.
6. All teams shall be provided with a copy of the question for every item. The
contestants must not flip and read the question until the quizmaster announces the
question number. Violation of the said provision for the first time shall be given a
warning and for the second time shall be given a sanction of accumulating only 50%
of the total score. Violation for the third time shall mean disqualification of the team.
7. Each question will be read twice. After the second reading, the quizmaster shall say
“go”, only then the groups will be allowed to write their answers. Automatically, the
time limit begins with the word “go” of the quizmaster.
8. For problems requiring computations, contestants are not allowed to use their
calculators before the quizmaster say “go”, but they may already start writing or
computing manually on their scratch papers while the quizmaster is reading the
question. Violation of this provision will be given the same sanctions as per number
6 above.
9. After the time limit, a buzzer sound will be heard which signals that the contestants
must stop writing and must raise their boards immediately. Failure to do so will
signal a warning for the first offense and disqualification for the second.
10. The Quizmaster shall read and verify the groups’ answers.
11. Any question or query to the correctness of the answers should be raised before the
start of the next question.
12. The teams who get the highest number of points will automatically be declared as
champion and runner-ups respectively.
13. In case of a tie, the involved teams will have to answer a tie-breaker question, in
which the first team who could give the correct answer shall be declared as the
winner for the slot or rank they’re competing for.
