the coiled quartz should be protruding from the center. Pour enough resin to cover quartz to just where the terminations begin, as pictured in layer 5 at right.

Set your 1" diameter pipe over
the quartz, allowing resin inside. Add some metal to fill in the space on the outside of the pipe all the way around, leveling it out nicely. Do not wiggle pipe and allow metal underneath. Only resin gets poured in pipes. Continue in this way, layering your metals and resin a bit at a time, tamping it down to get your metal layer packed nice and tight. Add gradually, almost to the top, leaving just enough space for your three turquoises. You may do other "fancy" things like arrange garnets on there. Now coil your smallest pipe in a clockwise fashion, leaving a bit of room at the top, as pictured at right. Then coil the 1/2" pipe COUNTERCLOCKWISE. Set the coiled 1/2" pipe in the center, just over the tip of the quartz. You will probably need to support this with wires that will come off later. Wrap a wire around the outside of the 1/2" pipe and after you position it, wrap the other end around the outer pipe to hold it temporarily until it sets. Please note, you may use 1", 3/4", and 1/2" pipes for the middle. If you do so, make them a bit longer.

of the crystal. Let harden.
Place your smallest pipe in center and slide the coiled dt quartz inside the middle pipe. Pour drops of resin to fill pipes. Be patient, it takes time. Keep adding resin until pipes are full. Do this slowly, allowing it to seep to the bottoms of the pipes. Add the three turquoise to the top, placed evenly around, and fill mold to cover them. We have since found that adding a small raw topaz at the very top of the middle pipe is a very effective way of stepping it up. (Optional, of course.) All done!!
