Notes - Classifying Numbers in the Real Number

System:
Vocabulary:

Real Numbers: a number that is either rational or irrational.

(Ex: 2, 14, -34, 9.0234, 7.7777, etc.)
Rational Numbers: any real number that can be written as a
ratio of two integers. Rational numbers in decimal form are
terminating or repeating (2, 4, -7, 3/5, 3.3, 0.979797)
Natural Numbers: the counting number (Ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, )
Whole Numbers: the nonnegative integers (Ex: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
)
Integers: all whole numbers and their opposites. (Ex: 1 and -1,
2 and -2, 15 and -15)
Irrational Numbers: any number that cannot be written as a
ratio of two integers. Irrational numbers in decimal form are
not terminating and nonrepeating.
