Disable Exchange Cache Mode

Occasionally you may find that the Global address book, your inbox or your calendar is not 'up
to date' when viewed in Outlook 2010. This is due to Outlook storing or 'caching' a copy of the
Global address book, your inbox or your calendar on your computer. In reality your Outlook is
not in real time with the Exchange Server but only a copy in time.

So if someone sent you an email, calendar invite and so forth and so on and you have not
received it its possible your Outlook maybe enabled in Exchange Cache Mode. This feature is
used for traveling when not being connected to the network such as with a laptop so that one can
read or reply to a copy of Outlook information. Once back at the office one could sync up with
the server but again its not in real time.

To disable the Exchange Cache Mode feature please consider the following steps:

Open Outlook and click on the [Files] tab

The Account Information screen opens:

Click on the Account Settings icon and select [Account settings...] from the
drop down menu

The Email Accounts screen opens, select the appropriate account and then
click on the Change button:

The Server Settings screen is displayed. Under the sever name field there is
a checkbox entitled Use Cached Exchange Mode. Uncheck this box to force
Outlook to synchronization with the server in real time.

Click on the Next button

An alert message appears informing you that the change will not come into
affect until you have restarted Outlook. Click OK to continue

The Congratulations screen appears. To close the wizard click on the Finish
button

You will return to the Email Accounts screen, Click Close to exit

10 Restart Outlook to complete the process.
