Lesson Focus For Week of 9/27/16-to-9/30/16
Math: We are working in Chapter 2 Adding and
Subtracting Whole numbers. Online help is available
at www.connected.mcgraw-hill.com (each student has been
given a username and password).

***Practicing Multiplication facts to increase speed


and accuracy is very important. We have started taking
facts tests to identify facts that need to be practiced.
These will be sent home as we take them.

Reading: We will be continuing our story A Walk


in the Desert. We will be focusing on identifying
the main idea while reading. TEST THURSDAY 9/29
***Students should be reading at least 20 minutes each day
outside of school!***

Grammar: We will be working on Subject and


Predicate.
Writing: Students will explore ways to get ideas
for writing. We will also continue learning about
narrative writing. We will begin writing our own
narratives.
Science: We are continuing our Chapter on
Ecosystems and Biomes Biotic and Abiotic
factors (Living and Non-Living)

Please check your childs Spelling notebook
for their word list. Students should bring
spelling bags home and back again each day
to practice. Spelling tests will be on
Fridays. Students will get new words every
Monday.

We have P.E. every day, so students need to either wear or bring tennis shoes to school every day.
Please check red folders and planners with your student each evening. Discussing what they are
learning is very important.
Save the Date: Fall Festival October 6th 5:30-7:30 p.m. This is a fun evening for the whole family!
Please return the orange information slip that was sent home.
