China Connection Bard College Chapter

Fall Semester 2014 Review

Having been integrated into the network in 2011, Global China Connection Bard Chapter
carries out GCC's goals in local areas and serves as a platform to bring together Bard
Chinese students and their international counterparts to social, learn, work and have fun,
hence to advance international trust, deepen peoples understanding about China, and build
strong personal, academic and professional connections with each other.

As a young club at Bard, GCC Bard hopes to attract more students who are interested in
anything about China to join. Currently, there are 6 executive board members and we are
making efforts to let more general members join our club through Club Fair and all other
possible social media channels. The estimated number of members would be around 140-
150.

Below are the events we hosted last semester:
1. Language Partner Program
In this program, we partnered up around 27 students who are learning
Chinese with students who speak Chinese as their first language. We
designed this program for language learning, cultural exchange and friends
making purposes on campus.
2. Dumpling Workshop
3. Chinese Movie Screenings
4. Finals Week Study Space

During this semester, we are planning several activities, including:
1. Chinese New Year Feast & Dumpling Making Tutorial & Calligraphy
Workshop
2. Attend GCC conferences at other chapters (Yale University this semester)
