2010-2011 Culture and Education Chair Application

Thank you for your interest in applying for an internship with Konnect.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Commit to an internship averaging about 5 hours per week with the Konnect Publicity Chair,
including attending regular, weekly general and board meetings
2. Participate, support, and help organize programs, events, and activities sponsored by Konnect,
including, but not limited to: Korean Culture Night, Roots Lecture Series, Annual Park Day, etc.
3. Work with board to develop and implement programming and discussions
4. Aid board with projects, such as letter writing and event planning
5. Duties include, but is not limited to, organizing lectures, planning topics for discussion during
meetings, strengthen the relationship with the Korean Studies Department at UC Irvine, and
inviting speakers

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Full-time student (e. g. 12 units or more per quarter)
2. Cumulative 3.0 GPA (preferred)
3. Ability to work well with a team of diverse people and beliefs
4. Ability to present ideas in an organized and cogent manner
5. Have a passion for learning about the roots of Korean culture and increasing Asian Pacific
Islander Americans (APIA) engagement in the community
6. Meet deadlines consistently
7. Year-long commitment to an assigned 7-10 hour-per-week position

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
1. Acquire knowledge of Korean culture and issues surrounding the APIA community
2. Develop a commitment to principles of values and issues-based leadership
3. Ability to effective plan, organize, and maintain various programming events that benefit
Konnect membership and the community at large
4. Develop better organizational and planning skills
5. Engender a collaborative bond with other teammates and interns
