Emergency aid for Bosnias flooded Zenica City Museum
Torrential rains in Bosnia Herzegovina produced the worst floods since rainfall measurements began 120 years ago. On 15 May 2014 the City Museum of Zenica was flooded and severely damaged. Although the museum staff was able to rescue the collection, the washing water has caused a state of emergency and created a lot of damage to the Museums premises. In 2011 the Prince Claus Fund supported the proposed project partner as well following a flood. However, Mays unexpected high water level and related flooding proved to be too much for the already improved depots of the museum. The Prince Claus Fund was alerted by the ICOM Disaster Relief Task Force on the situation of the Museum. With an amount of 31.300,- euro CER supports the emergency cleaning and construction security works at the depots to prevent further possible flooding.
