Regular ER Verbs

The Spanish infinitive, or base form of the verb, is divided into two
parts: the stem and the ending. Many verbs end in er. The verb comer
(to eat) can be divided into the stem and base: com + er. In order to
conjugate a verb, you must change the ending in order to make the verb
agree with the subject. To conjugate a regular er verb, drop the er.
ending and add one of the following: o, es, e, emos, éis, en.

Here is the present tense conjugation of comer.

yo como
tú comes
él come
ella come
usted come
nosotros comemos
nosotras comemos
vosotros coméis
vosotras coméis
ellos comen
ellas comen
ustedes comen

Here are some verbs that follow the regular ER verb conjugation pattern:

aprender – to learn beber – to drink comer – to eat comprender – to understand

correr – to run creer – to believe deber – to owe leer – to read

meter (en) – to put (into) romper – to break temer – to fear, vender – to sell
dread

Write these sentences in Spanish.

I learn. _______________ You (formal, plural) owe. ________________ We (feminine) eat. ______________

He sells. _______________ You (formal, singular) drink. _______________ We (masculine) believe. _____________

She reads. __________________ You (informal, singular) run. _______________

They (feminine) break. ______________ You (informal, plural, feminine) dread. _________________

They (masculine) put. _________________ You (informal, plural, masculine) understand. ________________
