SCENE: 1

Night time during the 1800s, a lone guard doing outside

Carlisle Castle. Sound of night time noises and guard
walking.
GUARD
(Whistling creepy tune and walking
back and forth)
WHITE LADY
(Shuffling of feet from above the
guards head)
GUARD
(Stands still listening, night time
noises get loud again, he stutters)
He-Hello, is anyone there?
WHITE LADY
(Silence)
GUARD
(Talking to self) Erm... Oh well.
(Continues whistling and walking)
WHITE LADY
(Louder shuffling)
GUARD
(Stops again and confidently says)
Oi, I can hear you! Show yourself!
WHITE LADY
(Shuffling gets louder)
GUARD
(Still standing still, talking to
self) Where is that noise coming
from?
WHITE LADY
(A quiet legion of girls voices
together making a low groan, along
side the shuffling still)
GUARD
(Puzzled and clanking of armor as
he looks up) Is that a woman on the
battlements? Hey?!

WHITE LADY
(Voices grow continuously louder)
GUARD
(Shouts up) Are you okay? Can I
help you?
WHITE LADY
(Voices very loud now)
GUARD
(Shouting louder to overcome the
voices) Why are you standing up
there alone? Come down, it must be
cold!
WHITE LADY
(A sudden chilling silence)
GUARD
(Lowers voice because the groaning
has gone) Are you going to answer
me, lady?
WHITE LADY
(sounds of long gown ruffling as
she begins to float towards the
guard)
GUARD
(Begins to stutter with shock) What
how are you doing that?!
WHITE LADY
(Sounds grow louder as she gets
closer)
GUARD
(Voice is raised again) Ladies
dont float! Get back!
WHITE LADY
(Groans return)
GUARD
Monstrous beat I will condemn you
to hell!! (Grabs bayonet and pulls
it out)
WHITE LADY
(Begins to laugh insanely along
with groans)

GUARD
(Screaming) ARRRGGGHHHHH!!! (Sound
of bayonet striking the brick wall
behind)
A sudden silence and pause from guard.
GUARD
(Heavy breathing) Where did she go?
Shes vanished!
Sound of a few men running towards the scene.
GUARD 2
(Rush of men slow as they approach
the guard) What happened?
GUARD 3
(Breathing heavy from running) What
was all that yelling?
GUARD
(Wheezing and breathing fast
deeply) A lady. No a beast. (pause)
She was on the battlements.
GUARD 2
(Putting his arm around the guard)
Where did it go? Theres no one
around?
GUARD
(Still breathing strangely) She
began to float towards me. It
vanished! Right in front of my
eyes! (A sudden shriek of pain)
GUARD 3
(Talking to guard 2) He needs help!
Lets take him to the doctor.
GUARD 2
(Grabs guard with guard 3) Here let
me help. (guard groans)
The guard later died from a heart attack.
