Music Video Proposal

Melissa alderton

Band & Track Name: JEKK Five Oclock

Running Time: 2:20 minutes
General style of music video:
(Relate here the ideas of Goodwin, Gow, Lynch, Railton & Watson)
This is a dance pop hybrid genre of music, this particular song lasts for a
duration of 2:20 minutes. Andrew Goodwin's research when he states that

in some music videos, there is a relationship between the lyrics and the
visuals, as well as the music and the visuals - shots going to the beat of
the music and such, will be incorporated in my music video. I will have
concept and performance elements in my music video (Joan Lynch). The
enhanced performance genre of music video (suggested by Jon Gow). My
style will be modern, with natural looking colours which will attract the
audience, and the music video will have a theme directed to the title and
lyrics, and I hope for the video to be a sort of cyclical video, the first or
second shot the same or similar to the last (Carol Vernallis).
Briefly describe what will happen in your music video, highlighting camera
angles and effects used. What will we see?

With this I will have an intro before the music starts of wind blowing
through trees, which will last around 5 seconds which will then have white
sans serif font saying 5 OClock at the same time Jekk says it. It will then
change to someone laying on the ground in a forest. It will then have clips
of animals looking around, being natural, this is related to how when you
wake up you are your most vulnerable self, and these animals are
vulnerable. I cant let you go will have a clip of hands that are being let
go, as if people are going into different directions. Then it will have a clip
of someone smiling and looking into the sky. It will cut to hands in the sky
which are facing away from the camera, and when Jekk says keep, keep
facing you on the second keep the hands will have the palms facing
towards the camera. It will have different clips of people laughing/smiling
and in love. But in between these clips incorporating the animal theme
which is Jekks star iconography. I plan to relate my visuals to be hidden
meanings of the lyrics which can be interpreted in different ways
depending upon the audience, to explain this I hope to get clips of leaves,
city lights, animals in their natural habitat, so this is why I chose to not
have a visible, obvious narrative, but rather several incomplete ones
which will add to the quirky/different atmosphere of the song. There will
also be Close ups and medium shots of lots of these shots and also more
variation of colour and speed. As well as extreme close ups on the mouth
to lip sync in certain parts of the music to add something extra which the
audience will not expect to happen, all the while fitting to the
nature/animal theme which Jekk as a musician is fond of. To end the video
it will be right back where it started: to the person laying on the ground
(cyclical video Carol Vernallis). As well as this I will have canted angles to
suggest a drop in the music; I will try to make the song go to the beat of
the music, this is so I can have a variation of lengths of clips.

What resources will you need?
Props, styling, location, recording and lighting equipment, actors, etc.:

Resources needed will be just different nature and open places. I wouldnt
need any particular props for the music video as it is going to follow a
natural, simplistic theme. Although I might be interested in adding a
bouncing ball I would perhaps need some lighting equipment for the
extreme close ups, this can be provided for me easily with no hassle. I will
use 2-3 people, at least one female and one male to add contrast to the
video and to make it appeal to more audiences.
Who will you need to organise for your music video shoot? (Are they reliable?)

Organising people for my music video will include me testing them out in
trial shots/photos, I wouldnt need to test them out together as they will
only be in separate shots throughout the video.
I will also use my pets inside of forests etc.
When do you plan to shoot your music video?

I plan to shoot my music video in mid-October time, as soon as I am

finished with preparation. I would prefer there to be some leaves on the
ground to furthermore add to my theme of nature.
