Week of October 10th

A Note from your Teacher
Reading: This week are reading Penguin Chick. We will have a spelling, vocab,
and story test this Friday, October 14th. We are also starting to read Halloween
chapter books in our small groups for reading centers.
Math: We are going to be starting a new math unit that covers how to read
and solve problems using different types of graphs. Look on the back for
further information. Math test scores from Chapter 1 are on Teacher Ease. I
will be holding onto the tests to show at parent teacher conferences.
Social Studies: We will begin to talk about how the election process work. We
will also do a mock election in our classroom in the future to gain a better
understanding of the process.
Vocabulary Words:
Fierce: something is very strong or violent
Whips: something moves quickly
Echoes: when a noise is made and the noise is repeated
Shuffles: walk without lifting feet off the ground
Huddle: group of animals or people that is close together
Junior: younger or smaller
Spelling Words:
Down: fine, soft feather on a bird
