Revision programme

1- Present simple
a) Verbe to be :

Form :
- With the pronouns she, he, it + is.
- With pronouns such they, we, you + are.
- With I + am.
Negative form: we just add not E.g. I am not ready to go for vacation. She is not
(isnt) good at math. You are not (arent) good today.
Question form:
Yes/no questions:
the verb to be in the present comes before the subject E.g. am I invited to your
party? Are you in the classroom N04? Is she good at English?
Wh questions:
A question word (what, who, how, why, whose, when, where, which) + to be in the
present + subject e.g. what is Ahmed here for?
Use :
We use the verb to be in the present simple:
- To describe something or somebody
E.g. the weather is warm today. E.g. he is a good student
- To talk about ages:
E.g. I am (have) 25 years old.
- To talk about others jobs
E.g. they are students.
- To talk about the time
E.g. it is 17:09 PM
N.B: There are other uses of the verb to to be in the present simple that can be easily
deduced. Those above are the main of them.
B) Other verbs:
* Form :
- With pronouns such as I, you, they, we + stem (infinitive without to) e.g. I to go
jogging two times a week.
- With pronouns such as her, him, it + verb + s. e.g. she likes her cat.
Negativef form:
- (I, we, you, they) + do not + stem e.g. I do not /dont like liars.
- (she, he, it) + does not + stem e.g. Asma does not / doesnt like action films.
Question form:
Yes/no questions:
- do + (I, we, you, they) + stem e.g. do you work as a doctor in the city center?
- does + (she, he, it) + stem e.g. does she have children?
Wh questions:
A question word (what, who, how, why, whose, when, where, which) + do/does+
subject+stem e.g. what is Ahmed here for?
* use:

2. Talk about daily habits (repeated actions)
2.1 We usually use these adverbs (always, generally, usually, sometimes, rarely,
hardly ever and never)
2.2 Or with (each/every+ /day /Sunday, Monday/week/month/ January,
February../ year or a date) e.g. every 1st of November the Algerians celebrate the
day of Algerian revolution. E.g. we study English three times a week.
2.3 We also use once, twice, thrice, /fourth/. a (day, week.) e.g. I
hardly ever watch TV. I only see it about twice a week. Or two, three, four. +
times a (day, week ) e.g. I like playing video games tow times a week.
N.B: we only say once but not one time. E.g. I use the internet once a day
3. Scientific facts: e.g. the sun rises from the east. The water boils in 100

4. - To describe emotions and feelings towards something or somebody.


E.g. I like reading short stories. E.g. Sarah loves her family so much.
