Since not all students work at the same level, some are in need of extra challenge
while others are struggling to keep on pace. When I tier an assignment I begin with

assignments at levels that will help all students achieve the objective successfully.

Let me assure you that these assignments are all at or above grade level
expectations. Each assignment will be graded on a rubric that evaluates if the child
met the objective. One assignment is not a lot more work then another. They are
just different types of thinking. I explain it to the class by saying that I try and
put students into groups that have assignments where they can be most
successful. It would not be fair to give an assignment to a student that is too
difficult and at the same time it is not fair to give an assignment that is too easy
for a student. Everyone has an assignment that meets his/her needs. If you have
