Study Hall

Carnegie Whittier Christian Junior High


2016-2017
Purpose

To provide you with time for working on assignments. In order to encourage an atmosphere
conducive to these activities and to foster courteous attitudes toward each other, the following
guidelines are to apply to all WCJH Study Halls.

Procedures
Enter Study Hall quietly and with work to do
Bring the following with you every day:
o Binder
o Agenda
o Writing utensils
o Paper
o Appropriate reading book
o Bible
o At least one academic textbook
Quietly be seated and get ready to work
When your name is called for attendance, respond by telling the teacher what you will be
working on that day
Work quietly without distracting other students until the teacher tells you to put away your
work
When the teacher calls your name at the end of the Study Hall, respond by telling or showing
the teacher what you have accomplished during the period
Wait quietly until you are dismissed by the teacher, not the bell
Rules
Come prepared to work
No talking
No food, gum, or drink except water
No using the restroom
No getting up during class time
After the bell rings and class has started students will not be allowed to return to their lockers
Inform the teacher at the beginning of the class period if you need to go to the library and the
teacher will call the library to confirm that it is open
Should you need to see another teacher for help, you must obtain a dated pass from that
teacher BEFORE coming to Study Hall
Grading
Your Study Hall grade is based on behavior
o Outstanding = Working quietly every day, following rules, being respectful
o Satisfactory = Usually working quietly and following rules, being respectful
o Needs Improvement = Distracting others, getting started slowly, accomplishing little
o Unsatisfactory = Noisy, disruptive, unprepared, accomplishing little
Discipline
Discipline will be enforced according to the Whittier Christian Junior High Discipline Chart
