structural safety of buildings: Masonry walls (second revision),
permissible tensile stress for freestanding vertical walls in
vertical bending is 0.07 N/mm2. However, the tensile stress at
base of wall at ground level amounts to 0.3 N/mm2, therefore,
exceeds the permissible value. The base width of wall is to be
