DYNAMIC PHYSICAL EDUCATION SECONDARY LESSON PLAN

OBJECTIVES:
Thestudentswillperformavariousofphysicalactivitiesthatwillhelpthemincreasemusclestrength,
endurance,flexibilityandcoordination.
Thestudentwillmanipulatethebeanbaginavarietyofchallengesusingtechniquesdemonstratedbytheinstructor.

EQUIPMENT:10cones,6circuittrainingsigns,beanbags,whistle,stopwatch,6hoops,andmusic(optional)

MovingtoRhythm
Useamusicrecordingandhavestudentsmovein
differentformsasthemusicplays.Movementsmight
includejogging,galloping,hooping,orskipping.Sound
andtempochangescanbetranslatedintohighorheavy
movements.

Alternatemusicsoitplaysfor20secondsanditrestfor
6seconds.Whenmusicstopsstudentsshouldfreeze.
Walkaroundtheoutsideoftheperimetersothatyou

FITNESSDEVELOPMENT(812MINUTES)
CircuitTraning
Createthecircuitbyplacingconesaroundtheperimeter
withenoughdistancesostudentscanmovearound.
Placeonefitnessskillcardoneachstationwith
appropriateequipment.Disbursestudentsequally
amongstations.Studentswillperformthefollowing
activitesineachstation:
1.Crabwalk
2.Toetouches
3.Froghops
4.Starjump(jumpingjacks)
5.Puppydogrun
6.Armcircles

Havemusicplayduringthecircuit.Musicshouldbe
alternatedsothatmusicplaysfor30secondswith10
secondsbreaks.Havestudentsmovestationswhenthe
musicstops.

Partner)
Tossthebeanbagwhilestandinginoneplaceusingtwo
hands,usingthelefthand,andusingtherighthand.
Havestudentstossthebeanbagandcatchitashighas
possible;aslowasaspossible.Havestudentstossthe
beanbagtothemselvesastheymovearoundthe
perimeter,examplesmightbewalking,jogging,or
skipping.Studentsmighttossthebeanbagtoselfasthey
movetoanotherspottocatchit.
Havestudentsworkinpartnerssothattheycanpractice
tossingthebeanbagbackandforth.Beginbyhaving
studentsusevariouskindsofthrows:underhand,
overhead,sideandovertheshoulder.
Tossthebeanbaginvariousdirectionstomakepartner
moveandcatch.
Studentscanjump,turnintheair,andpassbeanbagto
partner.Havethestudentsrunaroundtheirpartnerina
circle,tossingthebeanbagbackandforth.
Partnerscanalsotosstwobeanbagsbackandforth.
Eachpartnerwillhaveabeanbag,andthebeanbagswill
goinoppositedirectionatthesametime.Trytossing
thebeanbagsatthesametime.
Havestudentspracticeanyotherkindofthrowwith
partner.

Havethebeanbagsreadyaroundtheperimeterofarea
beforehand.Usemusictosignalwhenthestudents
willchangeanactivitywiththebeanbags.
Assoonasstudentswalkintheperimeterhavethem
grababeanbagsotheycanstarttossingitintheair
whilestayinginplace.

Asstudentspracticetossing(aloneorwithpartner)
remindthemtofindtheirownpersonalspace.

Divideclassintofivegroups.Placehoopsontheground
sothereisenoughspacebetweenthem.Inthecenterof
thehoopplacesixbeanbags.Assignahooppergroup,
thiswillbetheirhomebase.Teamswillthentrytosteal
beanbagsfromotherhoopsandreturnthemtotheirown
homebase.Theteamwiththemostbeanbagsisthe
winner.Checktextbookforrulesonthegame.

onehoop(theirhomebase)andsixbeanbagsinit.
